Another attair in which the Glee Clulo featured prominently was the Christmas Operetta, mlqhe Gitt ot the lVlagi,N presented hy the children ot the Elementary School. The play and the singing ot Christmas carols were ahly directed hy Sister Mary Cleophas, Cyp., who is in charge ot the Music Department ot the school. That same afternoon, Decemlaer l9, just laetore dismissal, We received the joyful announcement that our RINGS had tinally arrived. How excited we werel Long and patiently had we awaited this day. September 20 was a never-to-be-forgotten clay, because St. Vincent Ferrer High School was requested to be present at the Polo Grounds to talce part in the Archdiocesan Holy Name Rally. One of our own class- mates, Helen Harte, had the signal honor ot being chosen to represent St. Catherine Laboure in a special shrine ceremony honoring Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. The Blessed Virgin was represented by Rita lVlcElligott ot the Dominican Academy. The girls attending this private high school on East 68th Street are also taught by Sisters of the same community as our own Sisters here at SVF. Before lcnowing it, Qctober 5 had arrived, and the high school girls in full uniform marched in the annual Rosary Procession, praying Maryys chaplet, carrying roses, and singing hymns in her honor. Toward the end of Qctober, there was great excitement throughout the school, for we were having a Halloween Dance,-four first dance of the school year. Cardinal Hayes, fourteen-piece orchestra provided music for the gala occasion. Not only socially but financially, this affair was the most successful held so lar by the high school. The seniors were especially elated over it, because our Yearboolc Fund was greatly increased as a result. November soon arrived, and the Glee Club figured prominently in singing the Mass on November 13 in honor of St. Thomas Aquinas, Patron of Catholic Schools. About this time, also, we had a very interest- ing assembly. Mr. Cortez Peters gave an outstanding demonstration in typing. The facts which he presented to us on this subject were further emphasized in another assembly later, when we saw a motion picture on typing technique.

Qur Yuletide vacation was over all too soon, and another year,-i948 ,-'had hegun. Shortly aiter our return to school and previous to the final semester examinations, we had the opportunity oi witnessing a splendid picture, U-lqhe Pope and Vatican City. Our new term in school saw the last-minute preparations tor our Yearhoolc. The girls worlced hard turning in various articles, getting Boosters, and soliciting ads. That their etiorts were not in vain can the easily seen hy you, dear reader. Long heiore March iT, the girls were malcing plans tor the hig parade. Proudly they marched on St. Patriclcis Day, wearing their green and white uniiorms as they had done in other years. An added attraction this time was the new white tam with its green pom-pom. Easter was early, so another vacation came around. The days imme- diately iollowing our return to school were tilted with happy plans regard- ing the Spring Dance which tooic place on April 24. it was true to iorm ,- a great success. Vve held our PROM in the Wedgewood Room oi the Vvaldori- Astoria Hotel on May 20. That wonderful Thursday evening holds a very important place in our hook oi memories. The tact that many of the girls again wore their heautiiul gowns very shortly aiter in the May Procession to honor our Blessed Mother helped to intensity this feeling oi happiness. Thus, our Senior Year has passed, and, suddenly, we iiind ourselves on the threshold oi Graduation Day. To all who have made this possihle, we otier our sincere appreciation. VVifh eager eyes and grateful hearts, we loolc iorward to the iuture, While we happily close this chapter, agree- ing, one and all, that it has truly heen HThe Best Year oi Qur Livesf,
