After rolling over their first two opponents, San Rafael and Davis, the 1958 model of the St. Vincent's basketball machine became mired in a dismal seven-game losing streak. By mid-season the Saints were back in the right lane, splitting four games, 2 and 2. Then disaster struck in the form cf a contested 49448 loss to Rio Vista in the league opener. But suddenly Coach Mike Diaz' Hilltop crew shifted to high gear and steam rollered six of their last seven op- ponents.
