The Michigan Alpha Chapter was established at the University in l94l. It is the only pre-medical fraternity on campus. Alpha Epsilon Delta is a member of the Association of College Honor Socie- ties of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. The organization is particularly interested in promoting extra-curricular activities in order to supplement the scholastic life of the members. Social activities of the year, such as the Harvest Hop held in the 'fall and a New Year's Eve Party, are sponsored by the members. To fultill the social aspects of college llfe is the purpose for which Alpha Gamma Upsllon, a national social fraternity, was founded on the University campus on March 25, 1934. lts many activities include the Fall Frollc which ls held annually. Alpha Gamma Upsilon was the first 'fraternlty on campus to include a help week during which pledges offer their services to various charitable institutions throughout the city.
