Marilyn Bowling, senior, was school representative on the Girls' Week planning committee. After the Safety Institute at Walnut Hills High School, these three girls were determined to eliminate accidents from daily living. Mary Ann Reenan, junior, studied Traffic Safetyg Mary jean Crunkemeyer, Safety in Recreationg Nancy Folz became an authority on Home Safetyg and Patricia Keller, freshman, lnot pictured? took part in Fire Safety. 29

Zrfmmuu fy lilfzhg With a one hundred per cent enrollment, the junior Red Cross is a flourishing student organi- zation. Each class volunteered to complete a project assigned by Red Cross headquarters. Projects included party favors, funny hats, and nut cups for the Ft. Thomas Veterans hospital. Generosity in helping the unfortunate develops a sense of responsibility toward our local com- munity and its problems. Taking part in community affairs prepares future leaders In The American Way of Life Red Cross class chairmen show how it's done! Barbara Midden- dorf, junior, is wearing her classls New Year's eve hat, while Martha McCarthy, senior, holds the beginning of a wigwam, of which her cass made 100 for Thanksgiving. Ruth Bissmeyer, sophomore, wears a Hallowe'en hat. Freshman jackie Williams begins cutting out tray favors. In I Speak for American De- mocracy' contest, Patricia Man- ley clearly stated that our Amer- ican government is based upon Christian principles. 28

Girl ' Athletic sszmiafim The C-3.A.A. stresses our preparation today +o be civic leaders tomorrow. Working togeiher and good sportsmanship are developed +hrough the sports program and Variety Show. We learn the social graces a+ G.A.A. dances. Seniors came out on top in the intramural basketball tournament. Winners are Claudette Ceraci, Mary Ann Curtin, Bernetta Close, Marilyn Cayhart, Barbara Thul, and Angela Fraley, standing, and Caroline Evans, Lois Schomaker, Camille Ceraci, Marilyn Bowling, Patricia Manley, Mary Alice Brand, kneeling. 30
