STAFF The other members of the football staff were Father Cornelius R. Lehane who coached the Junior Varsity football team, and assistant coach Fr. Lyne. Fr. Lehane worked many long hours with the boys without any recognition except for the satisfaction of having coached a winner and developed players for the varsity team. Mr. Robert Wings Phillip, ,38, the lightweight basketball coach at St. Thom- as each year does a magnificent job. He started from scratch and built a team that Won fifteen games and lost eight. As can be seen from the impressive record, he has done a great deal to aid in building future varsity basketball players. The man of Whom one hears the least, COACH PH1LL11' COACH SLAFKOSKY but who has one of the finest teams each year is Father James G. Corrigan, our baseball coach. VARSITY FOOTBALL The St. Thomas High School varsity football team, coached by Mr. George Slafkosky and Mr. William Todd, ended their season with a record of four victories and five defeats. The team played wide- open ball. It displayed a superb passing attack with Joe Fenelon pitching. Out- standing linemen were Pete Colloton and Dick Muraski. Bill Hills and Pat Sreenan provided many a thrill and treat with their broken field running. Among the returning lettermen are Pat Sreenan, Billy Hills, Paul Bennick, Dick Muraski, Tom O,Meara, Ronnie Ruel, and Dave Barton. In spite of this array of returning talent Coach Slafkosky must find capable replacements for men like Joe Fenelon, Pete Colloton, jack Heaslip, Jim Lichtfuss, Bill Kelly, Dick Smith, Franny Metzger, Pat Dulin, Jack En- right, Joe Bowen, Jim Hayes, and Bob White.
