FR. ul. P. LYNE, o.s.A. Allzlufii' Dir: 1 for Father James P. Lyne came to St. Thomas last September and immediately established himself as the guiding light of our athletic program. He has worked hard to draw up the Hnest schedule and to pro- cure the best in equipment for the boys. Realizing the work that Fr. Lyne has done ATHLETIC for us, we give him our fullest cooperation in all his undertakings. Mr. George D. Slafkosky came to St. Thomas this year from Kirkland High School and assumed the duties of head football and basketball coach. A very easy way of describing Scoop would be to call him the builder. He started from scratch this year, worked very hard with the sophomores and juniors, and should have very fine teams in the years to come. A great deal of thanks and credit should be given to Mr. William Todd who took time out from his duties as circulation manager of the Rockford Newspapers to come over to St. Thomas and assist in building a football team of which we can be proud. l'r. STAFF The other members of the football staff were Father Cornelius R. Lehane who coached the Junior Varsity football team, and assistant coach Fr. Lyne. Fr. Lehane worked many long hours with the boys without any recognition except for the satisfaction of having coached a winner and developed players for the varsity team. Mr. Robert Wings Phillip, ,38, the lightweight basketball coach at St. Thom- as each year does a magnificent job. He started from scratch and built a team that Won fifteen games and lost eight. As can be seen from the impressive record, he has done a great deal to aid in building future varsity basketball players. The man of Whom one hears the least, COACH PH1LL11' COACH SLAFKOSKY but who has one of the finest teams each year is Father James G. Corrigan, our baseball coach. He has been coaching baseball here for several years, and as yet he has not had a loser. He demands a great deal from the boys, but his efforts pay off. FR. -IAMIES G. CORRIGAN, O.S.A ST.
