INTRAMURAL ATHLETICS The intramural program during the lunch hour provides play, recreation and athletic competition for more than half the students. The games are interesting, the rivalry is spirited and the enthusiasm is contagious. Supervised by Father Burns, the intramurals H11 a need in the lives of those boys whose athletic abilities do not conform to varsity standards. INTRAMURAL INCIDENTALS Jack Sharkey's whistle tooting .... rough-house basketball .... Paul Gill's forward passing .... the Fordham champs .... the Drummond brothers, jim and Pat .... Donny Gale a swishing and a fouling . . . . the Intramural All-Stars and Coach Whitey Erickson .... Brendan Rydstrom's team .... the base- ball game that ended 28-0 .... Marshall Friend and fancy free .... fifteen basketball teams and twelve baseball squads .... the Swensons, the Browns, the Bronowskis, the Kings, the Sicottes, the Angileris .... Danny Aaby, the basket artist .... Jim McNeany and his gracious floor work .... Larry Melan, the home run slugger .... Eddie Gilbert and his super-duper pitching .... first baseman par excellence, Bob Schopf . . . . the fielding antics of Pete Beiriger . . . . excellent decisions rendered by all umpires .... S0 ST. THQ PATRONS CLUB The St. Thomas Patrons Club was formed with the purpose of affording a better link between the home, the school, and the bene- factors of the school. This organization is composed of the parents of the students, and of those people who have no children in school now, but are interested in its activi- ties. This club renders invaluable assistance to the school. It sponsors card parties, dances, bingos, and dinners. The proceeds of these activities help financially the work of Catho- lic education in Rockford. More important than its monetary assistance is the spirit of loyalty, devotion, and self-sacrifice that is an ingredient of every one of its under- takings. This organization holds its monthly 1T1CCt- ings on the third Thursday of each month.
