Torch The Torch of Honor is an award given to the most outstanding male and female senior who has exhibited leadership, Christian witness, and academic excellence. This year, the Torch of Honor is passed on to Susan Keane and David Pekor. Susan and David have both been real assets to our school. Susan has been involved in such activities as Cheerleading, Pep Club, Yearbook, Spanish Club, Art Club, T.I.P., and the Newspaper. David has been a member of the National Honor Society, Computer Club, T.I.P., and Spanish Club. Both students have been very active in our liturgical services throughout their four years at Saint Thomas. Since it’s beginning, the Torch of Honor has represented the high value that Saint Thomas District High School places on a well rounded education. It is the hope of the administration and faculty that the flame of the torch remain with all of our students throughout their lives. Congratulations Susan and Dave! of Honor Susan Keane Dav id Pekor 20
Ring Ceremony On Wednesday, October 13, 1982, the junior class held their ring ceremony in St. Micheals Church in Braddock. The celebrant of the mass was Fr. Kunco. The juniors worked together and came up with the theme “friendship” and a song composed by Shalimar which expressed the importance of friends. The highlight of the ceremony was when the juniors distributed their rings to one another. After the ceremony, coffee and cakes were served to the juniors and their families. “Well, Dave, what do you think?' “Friends” by Shalimar Friends, I’ve got friends. Don’t be ashamed of how you feel when someone lends you a helping hand, because the bottom line is being for real in everyway that you can. Ask yourself: After all that you’ve learned would you do the same thing if the tables would turn? Well my answer is yes, ’cause I’ve been thru the test now I never forget my Friends. You can bet, I’ve got Friends my values are with my Friends so glad that I — I’ve got Friends and the fair weather kind. Whenever I am feeling down and out, they help me get through the rainy days they lift my spirits, and they raise my doubts they chase those raindrops away. If I had a dime for every time — that they have stood by my side hoping things turned out right I would be a millionaire, and my wealth I would share — ’cause I’d be no where without my Friends. 21
