The Torch of Honor, the highest award presented to members of the Senior class, is given to the Senior boy and girl who have been outstanding in demonstrating Christian values, leadership, and scholarship throughout their four years at St. Thomas. The Seniors chosen for this honor are John Belechak and Cindy Killmeyer. During their high school careers, John and Cindy have been extremely active in both school and community activities. Both were elected to National Honor Society as Juniors, and both have served as members of Upstart for the past three years. Cindy has participated in the Buhl Planetarium Science Fair and the Westinghouse Science Honors Institute. She has also been a member of T.I.P. for four years and a cheerleader for three years. At St. Maurice Church, Cindy sings with the folk group and is involved in the C.C.D. program. Besides his academic achievements, John has been a member of T.I.P. and the basketball team for all four years, and is co-captain of both this year. Outside of school, he has participated in the Junior Achievement program, and does volunteer work for his church. He holds a certificate of merit from the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers. Congratulations to both for meriting this high honor. Seniors 25
