Sister Kathleen (moderator). Under the leadership of William Kolano, Student Council achieved a high degree of efficiency during the past year. One of its greatest achievements was the taking over” of the school routine during Education Week. A whole new schedule of classes was set up offering unique courses with specialized instructors. The courses included Self-defense, Modern Dance, Skiing, Tennis, Bull-fighting, Journalism, Guitar, Cosmetology, Black Culture. Other successful projects included a Film Festival, Olympics, and the Christmas Talent Show. Early in the fall, selected English students took an intensive training course to prepare them to become Great Books discussion leaders. The course was given by Mr. Leslie Paul, a professional staff member of the Great Books Foundation in Chicago. One is presented during the Christmas season and one in the spring. These concerts are always highlights of the year’s activities and are enthusiastically enjoyed by the public.
