Text from Pages 1 - 48 of the 1950 volume:

1950 Depute f' T, HIS is. our Yearbook of 1950, with a marked decrease in size and number of pages. Such a reduction was necessary this year due to the paralyzing steel strike which this region experienced if. the autumjf of 1949. Realizing the crippling effect this catastrophe would produce on the people of Braddock, we, the Class of 1950, decided to curtail solicitation for financial aid, and to publish our Yearbook at a more moderate budget. Such action, however, does not indicate a lessening of pride and enthusiasm in the publication of our Annual. The Class of 1950-ppseesses all the interest in its Yearbook manifested by amr fther graduating class, and perhaps more. It believes -f Yearbook symbolizes the consideration the students 4 -' t hc d’for the straitened financial conditions of their families and fi associates. This aim of the Senior Class to prevent its Yearbook becoming a burden to the community has sjerved to make the spirit of its composition more wholesome an|i sinc re. With deep joy, jP dierefore, the seniors present their volume of memories, the 195(3 { F S' Geator Sp C( s DeeUc itco t Realizing that after graduation, we, the Class of 1950, must face the fact that we can no longer claim intimate membership in the student body of St. Thomas, that we must thereafter tread these revered halls as a part of that great body of grown-ups known as outsiders makes goodbye a word most difficult to say- St. Thomas, however, has taught us not only courage and strength in meeting unpleasant tasks, but also has instilled in our hearts a great love for all that i? good and right. This love is an imbodimcnt of the freindships we have made, the truths we have learned, and the ideals we have fought for. Behind this limelight, our confidence and pride, there is someone who has traveled with us through our years at St. Thomas, who has inspired us to fight for our ideals, and set ablaze the flame of truth enkindled in our hearts by the Holy Ghost. She is the one who has unselfishly shared her gifts of wisdom and understanding with each one of us in every joy and every disappointment. Under her vigilant care graduation means to us not an end, but a beginning of the fulfillment of all those noble aims which have been fostered in us. This “someone,” who means much to all of us, is none other than our esteemed principal, Sister M. Eunice, O.P., to whom the Senior Class of 1950 lovingly dedicates its Yearbook. cJ d )£.v£’i£n I D-xancLi. tSfiiddi f £.U£.x nci (J ona 'Ideal Selected by Vote of Faculty and Senior Class JOSEPH MFISDL KATHLEEN CHIP FIS lHE Ideal Thomasonian is a frequent Com-municant and a faithful friend of our Blessed Lady.
