We. The St. Thomas Pep Club had done it again! Break loose, the freshmen theme set the pace for the fun-filled Pep Week. The Sophs converted the familiar high school corridors to Soph Blvd, 73rd Street and simi- lar names, and posted colorful traffic signs warning all pedestrians that the Irish would have plenty of GO to STOP the Aggies! Helium-filled balloons floated everywhere with the Juniors' up and away message. The Seniors brought Dogpatch, U.S.A. to Ann Arbor with their corncob pipes, straw hats, farmer clothes, and hillbilly band. Pep King Leon Hieber and clever class skits highlighted the Pep Rally and a 62-55 Irish victory overASt. Agatha climaxed the week. HOMECCDMING WEEKEND l I ABOVE: Queen Clare receives a kiss from co-captain Frank Pennisi during halftime ceremonies RIGHT What would we do without our cheerleaders to keep our spirits high? BELOW Coach Look s advice to Irish players paid off in victory. On Sunday, October 18, the sun was bright and so were the faces of loyal St. Thomas fans. This was the big day-our Homecoming game against Our Lady of Lourdes. Before the game floats and cars crowded onto the school parking lot preparing for the caravan. The queen and her court rode on the Senior float-a huge Shamrock. The junior float was awarded first place. Between the halves of the Irish all-the-way victory, the traditional half-time ceremonies took place before a large crowd of students, alumni, and other St. Thomas fans. Homecoming '71 was a weekend of fun and spirit that began with a lovely dance on Friday and lasted through the spirit-filled bonfire. Winning the game on Sunday brought a great weekend to a close.
