I3 The Social Studies Department consisted of two teachers, yet it main- tained a busy schedule offering a wide variety of courses. Mr. Alfred Curtiss, famous for his hieroglyphics on the chalk board, headed the department. Mr. Richard Look, transferred to St. Thomas from St. john's, Ypsi. Even though we couldn't all register in his World History, Geography, or American History classes, Mr. Look became quite familiar to all during the football season. Mr. Curtiss taught semester courses in Current Events, Government, Economics, and Sociology. With the combined efforts of these two line teachers, American History was brought to the Juniors. Through panel discussions, explora- tions of maps, and current news- papers, students became aware of what formed the foundations of today, and how the world presently stands.
