TRIDE This year's cross country team had a year mixed with success and failure. Led by the strong running of captain Tom Darga, the team swept through its league season without defeat. The Meet at Grosse Pt. St. Paul, our victory by one point, gave St. Thomas the championship this year. Tom Darga remained unbeaten in all of our class C meets, earning all-state honors. Outstanding perfor- mances were given by Seniors Pat Chase, john Carr, and Steve Royce. Co-Captains Tom Marshall and Dan Hardie, along with jim Deighton and Kevin McMahon, also turned in fine efforts and received letters. HOT IRISH EXCITE THE CROWD This year's basketball season can be summed up in one word: frustration. In the 5-win, 9-loss league play, most of the losses were by six orless points. After taking 2 out of 3 non-league games in the pOSt-Season, the Irish met defeat in the first round of the district tournaments when they were upset by a strong Dundee team. Co-captains Steve Royce and Mike Deighton had a starting line consisting largely of seniors. A number of the reserves performed consistently well.
