PROLOGUE ' Let us make mankind in our IMAGE and likeness. - Genesis 1:26 Man . . . made in the Image and likeness of God can disciver his true identity by finding in him- self the divine image— this is the work of a life- time—aided by Christian education. Here Is Our School . . . This is the story of students in a school dedicated to a work of discovery, exploration, and development. Since the creation of man in the image of the Creator, the law of life can be summed up in: Be what you are. As sons and images of God we must have no higher obligation than to resemble Him in the perfection of our spiritual and intellec- tual lives, and in the development of the social and physical lives designed to contribute to the formation of the true Christian image. In this life-work St. Thomas School not only teaches us to discover our true identity, as children of God, but also to explore the spiritual and the intellectual possibilities of complete development into the new man whose image we keep before us. THE SHAMROCK will try to picture the story of one year in the lives of St. Thomas students, and present the real student-image. The Shamrock St. Thomas High School, Ann Arbor Trrrr II rh : ?7 ' ' ' . Image Of Christian Education x-i lb wt DEDICATION To the scores of St. Thomas graduates who have faced the open door to an unknown world, entered it, and found spiritual and material success because they have achieved the goal of a Catholic education— the formation of the supernatural man of character, made in the image and likeness of God; to all of these graduates, we have dedicated this book.
