RETREAT Rev. Robert Bretz During the holy season of Lent, on March 2.2, 23, and 24, our high school students were prepared for Christ's sac- rifice on the Cross through a retreat. Here to help the students make a successful retreat, was Father Robert Bretz. A classmate of our own Father Ted, Father Bretz first attended St. B e r n a r d Sc h o ol. He completed his studies at Sacred Heart Seminary and Mount St. Mary's, Norwood, Ohio. Ordained in 1940, he has served as assistant at St. Rose, St. Boniface, and is now stationed at St. Veronica. A capable retreat master, he has also conducted Pre-Cana and Cana conferences and lectured at the CYO, and sponsored Courtship and Marriage courses. Because of the inspiring talks given by Father Bretz, a successful retreat was made by many. He made the students realize that this retreat would determine their spiritual life in the future they could not remain the same but would be better or wrose. Through his talk on vocations: many were able to decide whether their place in life would be that of a religious, a parent, or a' single person. He cleared up many matters concerning the sacraments and prayer, and was available at every spare moment for any personal problems. Therefore, Father Bretz is to be thanked for bringing the students nearer to God and eternal' salvation. cl

DRAMATICS CLUB This year a new club has been organized at St. Thomas High. The Dramatics Club--with M. Kurrie as president, C. Hettinger as vice president, D. Ajdowski as secretary and F. Kurrie as treasurer--was formed for teh purpose of encouraging our students to take on interest in dramatics. The officers of this new organization were elected by a majority vote in October. DON'T TAKE MY PENNY! This three act comedy, by Anne Coulter Martens, tells about 16 year old Penny, who is waiting to be discovered for a starring role in a movie version of a popular novel. Unknown to her, a former child star, Sally, has been planted in her home as a maid and is also seeking the role. While awaiting the arrival of the author, who is to choose the star, Sally falls in love with Permy's brother Mark. Be- cause of several hilarious incidents, Penny becomes discouraged so that she no longer wants the part. Finally, a girl is chosen, but the choice is a surprise to all.
