nnouncmg f e avian ear... ,fbni wg., His Holiness Pope P1us XII This day 1954 Marks the Centenary of the proclamation of the dogma of the Immaculate Concept1on One hundred years ago on December 8 1854, Pope Pius IX proclaimed the dogma of the Immaculate Conception to a reJo1c1ng Catholic world It was declared that the Most Blessed Virgin at the first moment of her conception was preserved immaculate from all stain of origmal sin, by the of the mer1ts of Jesus Christ the Sav1or of mankind, and that this doctrine was revealed by God and therefore must be believed firmly and constantly by all the faithful The Church, in proclaiming th1s dogma, was not announcing any new 1dea, but rather officially accepting a truth revealed by God The Holy Father Pope Pius XII, announced that the Centen n1al Year December 8 1953, to December 8, 1954 would be consecrated as the Marian Year This indeed is a most opportune time to pay tr1bute to the Immaculate Conception by lifting our volces in prayer and thanksglvmg, whlle at the same t1me we utter our humble petitions for God's help 1n the future May we use this as an occasion for a manifesto of Mary, Our Beloved Inspiration To you Immaculate Mary, we as graduates of the ' Marian Year humbly offer this book of memories so that deep 1n our hearts all our memories of you will always remain. 3 ' A ,S E f I - 1 fi' o , U . . . . . . ,, .0 . , . o o o n . singular grace and privilege of the Omnipotent God, in virtue ' ' . Although we are leaving, we take with us the memory of many Autumns that progressed into years and many years, which shall someday progress intoa memory. To these days, then, and to you, our Alma Mater, we bid ADIEU, saying farewell to a building, but greeting a fond memory. 5
