Although we are leaving, we take with us the memory of many Autumns that progressed into years and many years, which shall someday progress intoa memory. Mary kept the memories df His progress deep within her heart as she silently marked each birthday. After that first birthday the Star of Bethlehem no longer would shine in the skies. Its message now could only be found in His eyes. Soon--all too soon--the time would come when He would leave her to preach His teach- ings to the world. tomorrow. too soon-- when they, too, shall kneelin church, arrayedin caps and gowns, and offer up one last prayer as a class. These years of learning serve to prepare them for their future. As they fly swiftly by, the mmder- classmen keep ever before them the shining star that is their goal, grad- uation. Maiberger and Father M Filip, organized the first basketball team. Since the origin of this group, both the girls of St. Thomas grade school and of the high school have the opportunity to engage ina healthful and en- tertaining activity. It enables them to know the value of fine sportsmanship and to form a foundation for a more success- ful social life in the future through the acquaintance of Catholic opposing teams Coach MarthaB-artosiewicz, bet- ter known as Bart, through the use of her own experience and her training has led the girls' basket- ball team through a successful season. Being with the girls the past four years, Bart , has ably taught the girls additional plays along with the foundamentals of the game. Many thanks are extended to her from the team of 19 5 4 . For many years to come Ray will be remembered as the best endurance runner ever to walk our corridors. The hard-working, conscientious athlete has been the captain of the track team dur- ing the four years he has donned the uni- form. While a fresh- man Ray was a.nchor man on the relay team whichtook fifth place at the Regional track- meet at the Univer- sity of Detroit. In his sophomore year he ran a sensational mile race and placed first. His efforts awarded him the honor of participating in the State Meet at Ann Arbor. Here he placed a well earned seventh place. During the same year at the Parochial Invitation second place honors were taken by him. Again in his junior year his brilliant running continued and again he was re- warded withatrip to the State Meet which was held at East Lansing. Being right at home in the Regionals on the U of D track, Ray soared ahead and brought home another second place victory. Now the book is closing on his career.
