JOSEPH P. DILLON, C.S.B. Father Dillon was a remarkable man, because he loved God so much and he loved Our Lady so much. He especially loved and revered Our Lady of Guadalupe. She gave him a great understanding love for her people, the Mexicans. In the 20's, Father Dillon taught here at St. Thomas. Then in the early 30's he was assistant priest at St. Annes In 1934 he started the Basilian work among the Mexican people in Texas, and spent the rest of his life working with them and for them. He suffered a great deal from ill health, especially in the last years of his life. He suffered also from the prejudice that too many Americans have towards the Mexicans, although he daily thanked God for the encouragement and help he got from so many other Americans. The big thing was his generous, unselfish love. You could not know Father Dillon without learning something more about what it means to be a Catholic, a Christian, what it means to love Christ and His Mother, What it means to love people. He will be well remembered by his fellow Basilians, by all Who knew and helped him, and especially by his own beloved people, the Mexicans. 0211' Lady of Guadalupe, pray for 192m. Principal To honor Mary is a tradition at St. Thomas. When we honor her, we honor her Divine Son, and we draw closer to Him, who is Eternal Wisdom, the Way, the Truth, and the Life, for each one of us. This is the Wisdom we have tried to teach you, the Wisdom which is besr learned through Mary, the Seat of Wisdom, because she is the one who has learned Wisdom best, and she is the one that Eternal Wisdom gave us to bring us to Himself. When we say Our Ladyls Rosary we learn Christ in his Mysteries. When we honor Our Lady here each Friday, we try to follow her suggestion to liDo whatever He tells You, and so we receive Christ in Holy Communion. When we re-dedicated ourselves to Our Lady in November, we did so by offering Mass and receiving Communion. If you remember to say the Hail Mary and the Rosary each day, to go to Confession frequently, to attend Mass and receive Our Lord in Holy Com- munion every week, then you will be on the road of Wisdom, Christ and His. Mother will remember you; they will be with you now and at the hour of your REV. L. A. BREZIK REV. J. T. CHERRY Director of Studies Tremurer, Biology Social S tudie: REV. T. P. O'ROURKE F. L.
