The Girls' Basketball Team of Saint Theresa has completed another successful season of basketball winning 8 out of I0 games. This margin was enough to land us a tie for first place in the South Florida Catholic League. Twelve girls were chosen from the candidates after a week of try-outs on the basis of their proficiency, energy, and spirit. Sylvia Witte was elected Captain and Mary Ann Knauer was Co-Captain. Coach Joan Cummings' excellent guidance made possible the many victories of our Musketeer Misses. New plays. taught to our forwards. Mary Ann Knauer, Dolly Martinez and Marie Josberger. to- gether with last year's aggregation of fast breaking diagrams provided us with a deadly attack. The guards, adept in the act of line-zoning and man-to-man defense. kept enemy scoring to a minimum. Dolly Martinez, Marie Josberger. Bibbie l7itzCil1bon. Ann Stonaker. and Louise Renuart. and guards. Catherine Herndon. Sylvia Witte. Carol Mills, Catherine Brewer, Eddie Fallon. and Margie Lillis, that assured victories to the Girls in Green. Mary Ann Knauer. Marie ,los- lierger. and Dolly Martinez were this yearis top point makers. At the end of the season we were invited to the Catholic State Girls' Tournament. After two vic- tories we were defeated by a small margin in the finals. The team of '51 will long be remembered for its sportsmanship. clean style of play and its fighting spirit. Next season should be a very promising one as the only graduate will be Captain Syl Witte.
