HISTORY OF ST. THITRESA SCHOOL Nineteen-fifty marks the turn of the century. In twenty-five years we have watched our school grow and prosper year by year. It is now one of the best parochial schools in Florida. In 1925 St. Josephs Academy was built and its formal opening was held on Tues- day, Sept. 13, three days after the arrival of Mother Marie Louise and five other Sisters of St. joseph. Reverend Thomas Comber arrived in Coral Gables in October 1926, and began work on the Church of the Little lflower, which was dedicated in December of 1928. Up to that titne Mass had been celebrated in the convent chapel. In 1932 St, Theresa's became .1 parochial school and the boarding department was discontinued. At this time the school had an enrollment of two hundred students and .1 faculty of nine teachers under the guidance of Sister St. Andrew. Also in 1952 the school was accredited by the Southern Association of College and Secondary Schools. Under the succeeding principals, Sister Augustine, Sister Norberta, Sister Ifidelis and Sister Anna Maria the school has continued to grow and prosper so that now we have the highest enrollment of any Catholic school in the Diocese with 1.100 pupils and a staff of twenty-seven teachers. Our Athletic program has increased and the school library llas continued to grow. In 191' the kindergarten was built: in 19,18 the new cafeteria and the Sisters' convent were erected. The school grounds have been fenced and this year the football field has been equipped with bleachers. Vile have watched our school grow and improve y'ear by year and we are very proud of it. XX'ith the guid tnce of the priests and sisters and with the help of our parents we are sure it will be even hetter in the next twenty-five years. Pat Baker
