Joseph's Academy was builr and i'rs formal opening was held on Tuesday, Sept I5, 'rhree days aller The arrival of lvlolher Marie Louise and five olher Sislers ol Sl. Joseph. On April 23, l926, ihe high school be- came alfilialed wirh rhe Calholic Universily of America and on May 20, l926, +he school was charlered under The Sfare of Florida. Reverend Fafher Thomas Comber ar- rived in Coral Gables in Oclober, l926, and began worlc on +he Church ol 'rhe Lillle Flower which was dedica+ed in December. I928. ln I932 S+. Theresa's became a parochial school and fhe boarding deparlmenl' was dis- confinued. A+ This lime 'rhe school had an enrollmenl of 'rwo hundred s'ruden+s and a laculfy of nine 'reachers under lhe guidance of Sisler Sainf Andrew. The lirsl school bus was purchased Then. Also, in l932 The school was accredifed by 'rhe Sou+hern Associalion of Colleges and Secondary Schools. Under The succeeding principals, Sisrer Augusfine, Sisler Norberra. Sisler Fidelis and Sisfer Anna Maria, The school has conlinued +o grow and prosper so +ha+ now we have 'rhe highesl' enrollmenr of any Calholic School in 'rhe Diocese wifh I,O5O pupils and a sfalf of 26 leachers. Three school buses malee double Trips morning and evening fo accom- modale sludenls from oullying dislricls. Our arhlelic program has increased and The school library has conlinued 'ro grow. This pasl year has shown many improve- menls. Lasf February lhe new convenl for lhe Sisiers was sfarled and was compleled in Augusl. The enlire lhird floor ol fhe school building was remodeled and six new class- rooms were made including a new library. laboraiory, domesfic arl room and assembly room. A large new cafereria was buill and also a lcindergarlen building. The loo+balI field has been improved and enclosed by a wire fence. The sidewalks and driveways were repaved also. We have walched our school improve 'rhrough all The years and if is our lerven+ prayer 'rhar i+ will confinue io do so.
