The 1976 edition of St. Teresa football began, as in 1974, with a team hit hard by graduation. The first game was an intra-city match against Stephen Decatur. It was a young, inexperienced Bulldog team pitted against a bigger, more experienced foe in the Runnin’ Reds. Despite their 47 game winning streak and back-to-back State Cham- pionships in °74 and °75, St. Teresa went into this game as heavy underdogs. While St. T. lost the game 20-12, they had nothing to be ashamed of. Although the Bulldogs had lost the war on the scoreboard, they had won the statistical battle. St. Teresa retaliated and defeated Warrensburg easily, 46-0, but then lost a heartbreaker to Tuscola in overtime. This ag would come back to haunt the Bulldogs because a victory would have given them the Okaw Cham- pionship and a berth in the State playoffs. St. Teresa rebounded from the loss with a 21-20 victory over a tough Mahomet-Seymour team. Then, reminis- cent of years gone by, they ripped crosstown rival Lakeview 49-0 to initiate the homecoming weekend. The Bull- dogs then lost to Tolono Unity. Heading into the final part of the season, St. Teresa finally got untracked. They waltzed through St. Joe, Monti- cello, and Sullivan by scores of 49-0, 21-0, and 50-0, respectively. St. Teresa didn’t win a State Championship this year, but they still had the best record in the city. While 6 wins and 3 losses is not what the Bulldog fans have become accustomed to, it is still very respectable. Also, by defeat- ing their last three opponents by a combined score of 120-0, it is a sign that St. Teresa football has a very promis- ing future. Steve Turner- Shut-outs: the St. T. Specialty. At last we have a school newspaper! The “St. T. Times”, consisting of news, editorials, creative work, and even comic strips, comes out once a month to let us know what's going on in and around school. We also have a new club! It’s called “Biology Club” and it’s the brain-child of Mr. McMullen. It was formed by students who are not only concerned about nature, ecology, and Environmental Protection, but are also willing to do something about it. 7 Biology Club...
