But soon we found friendliness, not only in our fellow classmates, but in upper classmen as well. At St. Teresa we got right into the swing of things with Freshmen Initiation and many other activities. We are learning that there Is a whole new world open to us. PE Moving ahead as each year goes on. Grow ing not only in academics, but also in spirit. Each year everyone finds a few more people to call friends -- people that last year wouldn't have been considered friends of the future. The second year is spent more at ease and now Sophomores can talk to Sen- iors! Sophomores keep the spirit moving, giving Freshmen an idea of how great it is to be a Sophomore. By the time this class be- comes Seniors its vitality will be so apparent that it will keep all of St. Teresa's moving! Sophomores. . .in spirit, in academics. . . always. ..GREAT!! We're not lower classmen anymore, but we're not quite Seniors yet either. It seems that these days and years have gone so quickly. We've made some real progress. Just think -- this time next year we'll be on our way to separate goals. We've had lots of fun! Think back -- Freshmen year -- our float! Oh broth- er! But this year as Juniors we built a first- place float! We seem to do better as we go along. As Freshmen, we weren't sure who was was who. Junior year finds us good friends with all the kids who were called what's- their-name in our early days here. Surpris- ingly enough, we all seem to have survived these three years. “A world is born with every child And with every man it grows We give love away and it becomes The best part of us” -Kriensky Greg Creamer, Lisa Ernst, Dolores Elam, Joe Eller CPPPERETETT REG) ehehpeRbDETpERG “er a Mike Hetfernan, Francie Hayes, Leslie Hannapel, Tom Hughes, Tom Hubbard sarah Kolbeck, Kevin Laughery, Miss Dial, Liz Kiessel, Barb Kraus “When man begins to understand He will learn to love And when his love is understood There will be everlasting Peace. Libby Snelson, selected as an American Abroad to Brazil, Summer Program, 1973. “Ten weeks is too short to absorb everything about a country as lively and progressive as Brazil, but a fantastic family showed me so much of it--the people who were quick to become friends, the customs, the beautiful country, the al- most impossible portugues! The most valuable of their many gifts to me was themselves--their demonstration of unquestioning love proved, to me at least, that there is hope for the passengers of spaceship Earth.” AFS at St. Teresa’s reaches out in 1973-74. Our favorite Kiwi, New Zealander Cheryl Bran- don, stayed with the Leonard Hannapel family. Shown with host brother and sister, Jetf and Leslie. Going someplace? This year's fl oat building was excep- tionally good--and fun to do, Everyone show- ed their enthusiasm throughout the week. The night the winner was announced, there was a mob of anxious and excited students. Each class wanted that first place prize. The Juniors were the lucky winners, with the Sen- iors running a close second, followed by the Sophomores, then the Freshman. It was a very memorable occasion for everyone in- volved. 74 The Bonfire was a very special occasion for everyone. It brought out deep feelings of closeness and friendship within our school. Ex- amples of this unity in our school are our great football! team and the girls on the homecoming court. Out of the skyrocketing event Janet Ernst was announced as our 1973- 1974 Homecoming Queen: then Tom Miller expressed in a spontane- ous speech the feeling of friendship within us all. ...STHS Homecoming 1974 38 - OI! What a score! But not much else could be expect- ed from a homecoming game with a team that hasn’t touched ground since the beginning of the year, making it much too difficult for the Lakeview Spartans to catch us as we breeze by. 76 Homecoming means coming home-returning to school, coming back to home to friendships left behind. Chosen by friends, Janet Ernst was crowned by an alum who came back, Barb Bean, as the Court: Joanie Heynen, Linda Kleiss, Jenny Morthland, and Sue Yonker watched. Homecoming 1974's theme reflected the mood of the season of the beginnings for STHS-er’s. “Injun Summer- Autumn Love” captured the excitement of football, the rush of school’s starting, the warmth of a bonfire’s glow. The awards given that day included the Brintlinger Award-Brenda Lees; Royal Ar- canum-Steph Wuller; Father Masterson-Jim Feriozzi: St. Teresa Service Award-Pete Vercellino; and Senior Athlete-Mark Bushell. One drop of rain cannot fill a fountain one grain of sand doesn’t make a mountain. And a handful of dirt is just about all we re worth in the eyes of the man who made us all from the earth. Those who go alone those who go together those who give the world its trouble those who make it better, we're all on our way to dust from the day of our birth. From the ground we've come and we’re all going back to earth, so stay for awhile with me walk another mile with me, live another day for what it’s worth. Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow we'll go back to the earth. _ Father Skelton presided as Master of Ceremonies. It’s 8:10, the P.A. comes on, QUIET! For we, the students, this is Student Council. But there is sure plenty more: like homecoming, students-faculty rela- tions, field day, and many other jobs and events that aren't even known. Student Council is a full time job and this years officers have put in their time. We now have new officers, but many thanks have to go to Joanie, Steph, Pete, and Mrs. Ahola. student Council Advisor, Mrs. Ahola. It's here, but it was a long, hard climb. The book is unique---it has a spacy theme, a sideways sports section, and a totally different class section--because we wanted something refreshing and extraordinary. A big thanks ooes to Bob Donnelly, our faithful yearbook ad- visor, who taught two girls who had never planned a page to par- tial bleed, center a headline, and use a confusing proportioner. We couldn't have done it without him. While it seems like only yesterday we were chasing after peo- ple who didn't show up for pictures, or rushing around the school to Meet a deadline, or laughing at a word that just wouldn't fit, we're glad it isn’t. It was a rewarding experience and we're glad we had it, but now its someone else's turn. seniors of the staff: Mary K. Harding, editor, Libby Snelson, Sue Perry, Ka- ren Leonard, Chery!
