Football Letterman, ' 53 TOEFF . . . gentle and a little shy . . . infinitely polite to everyone ... a cheerful personality . . . endowed with real school spirit . . . always willing to help out in any way he can . . . works hard at everything he does . . . Mrs. Urqtihart will miss his handiness in the bookstore . ubiquitous member of The Deacon for three years . . . fol- lowed sports much while on the paper staff ... has come to conclusion that sportsmanship of teams is what he likes best about St. Stephen ' s . . . lists as hobbies nature study (mainly biology and astronomy), building models, and col- lecting records of classical pieces . . . especially digs science and sports, though his small size has shoved him into the unwilling role of spectator in the latter . . . quiet himself, he hates unnecessary noise . . . cares not a whit either for undergraduates who try to slip up the senior stairs by stealth or for notebooks - the biggest waste of time I ever heard of! . . . applauds, on the other hand, teachers who can see the students ' point of view . . . plans a college career aimed in the direction of medicine. 29

' 53 KENDON . . . retiring, intellectual, and misanthropic . . . rather the most puzzling, unrational member of the class . . . says he likes nothing about St. Stephen ' s, yet has l)een for years one of the chief forces behind its publications . . . perhaps it ' s his way of getting back . . . did all the lavout for The Scroll (which involves a lot more work than you might think) . . . address all your complaints about the yearbook to him . . . describes as his pet peeve anything I am considering at the moment ... is an animated encyclopedia of facts . . . just about the best scholar in the school . . . has mastered the magic touch of working hard. but. he feels, too much . . . frankly admits himself to be an odd ball ... to prove it he lists as his interests Shakespeare (at last. Mr. Wills!) : all philosophy: mi.sic — especially Rachmaninoff .; Oriental literature: and a specific history class ... his hobbies are reading and listening to classical records on his homemade hi-fi set . . . dislikes intensely old. beat-up school buildings and hypocritical people ... an uncompromising self-critic and realist, he sometimes wonders how he lives with himself . . . receiving his higher e(lucati in at St. John ' s, though no one seems to know why.
