Blevins Son of Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Bolch 74 SENIOR CLASS POEM The Yellow Rose has burst its bud As the sun looks down from Heaven. Upon this earth, another flower! The class of fifty-seven! To many folks this is just another year In the annals of our time, But to those who’ll leave St. Stephens High, This is the year sublime. We’ve toiled through twelve long years To set our goals in sight; Homework gave us that “pain in the neck” Till the wee hours of the night. We’ve all had our ups and downs And failed a test or two; Preparation brought us happiness; Slackness made us blue. ‘Twasn’t often we appreciated Our parents constant cry, “Get out of bed and hustle, Your ride will soon be by.” Nor did we think to give our thanks As often as we should To those fine folks of ours, who Only through self-denial could Afford the many things it takes To make us feel secure; To whom we give our gratitude For ever and ever more. We must not by-pass our teachers Who gave us certain glances To get our minds back on our work And out of teen-age trances. “Their best interests are for you,’ Oftimes so hard to believe. 75 But to them we give a special praise, And ask that they receive The personal thanks of each of us In whom there has been planted Roots of knowledge, virtue, and love Which will never be supplanted. We raise our praise unto our school, Good Old St. Stephens High......... To the spirit of the Blue and Gold May it never die; But be nurtured by the spark of youth Who'll fill these cultured halls To sing its songs and anthems raise As to shatter forth its walls. May each one who remains herein To gain his education Endeavor to find the joys That come with graduation. Having made accomplishment in Everything that is done For through continuous effort The battle will be won. And so we bid farewell to thee And leave you our adieus Praying for best success in Whatever path we choose. “If God be for us, who can be against us? Our motto for inspiration To guide us through the years ahead, A thought for meditation. And as we reach into the future And towards our goals we climb, Let’s not forget we’ve left Footprints on the sands of time. 76 Mavin McNeilly SENIOR STATISTICS BRENDA JEAN ALLEN Hildebran High School 1,2; Pep Club 3,4; Com- mercial Club 4; Library Club 4.
