The flower we've chosen is for power, Yes, it's the carnationg And we have learned from hour to hour With great adoration, That St. Stephens, yes, St. Stephens is best. Our banner is of green and white For hope and purity, I And we shall strive with all our might Very God-like to be . Yes, we are launched, but not secure, We shall not fear the way. One thing of which we are so sure Is that we sing today, That St. Stephens, yes, St. Stephens is best. Joyce Hollar Q 'V ZX' 'l 1 I ! '1 if , .3 f ,,,,.l t ii! E E E I IW , W J' ! Che 611155 lag Four years ago we Seniors boarded the famous ship, St. Stephens High School, realizing that this voyage would make an important part in the History of our lives. The destination of our voyage seemed so far away, but under the capable command of Mr. D. S. Clark and his co- workers, Mrs. T. R. Bain, and Mrs. Donald Frazier, we journeyed suc- cessfully the first year. As we charted our course again, we no longer allowed the troubled waters to discourage us. After working harmoniously the second year with our new co-captains, Mrs. Hazel B. Purkey, Mrs. Ruth K. Yount, and Mrs. Dorthy Lonon, we realized that our voyage was half completed. We began our third year under the command of Mrs. Ruth Yount and Mr. Calvin Ledbetter. Our one big task accomplished this year was to have a farewell dinner on deck for those who were going ashore at the next port. Our co-captains needed much help with this project so we selected chiefs of the crew to assist them. They were Royce Lee Good, President: Ralph Drum, Vice-President, Mary Joe Beam, Secretary, Joan Propst, Treasurer. In order to take care of the finances of the banquet, all caught fish and dried them to sell at the markets. As our third year came to an end, we looked back on the year's work and were well-satisfied. Now we are in the fourth year of our voyage under the faithful guid- ance of Mrs. Christine Mauney and Mrs. Anna Gray Anderson. Again this year the co-captains need assistants to rely on whenever there is a big task to be undertaken, so the following were chosen: George Bar- ger, President, Mary Moser, Vice-Presidentg Peggy Duncan, Secretaryg Camilla Yount, Treasurer. At last we have caught sight of the port which is to be our goal in this voyage. We shall never forget the days aboard the faithful ship, St. Stephens High School, and our Pilot, Mr. W. A. Murray, who patiently directed us from the beginning to the end of our voyage. As we land at the harbor, we all gather on deck and sing with one accord, Dear Old St. Stephens High School, which became the favorite song of the crew when we gathered on deck in the evening. It is time now for me to close our class log, for our voyage of High School Life is nearing its end, and the Senior Class of 1953 will begin soon the Voyage of Real Life.
