5lffy ociczf Uafefzcfafz QAQSQQZZ2., All work and no play makes lack a dull boy . , . all work and no play makes Sue a wallflowerf' This familiar proverb modified to fit us Stephenites has-had a par- ticular place in my book of memories. Not because it has dehned my social life, but because it holds in itself the watchword by which we lived as students of St. Stephen. When it was time for us to study we put our minds and souls into it , . . when it came time to have fun and broaden our social life by perhaps sponsoring a dance, or attending a football game, or enjoying ourselves at a class play, we put our hearts into it. As l paged through that section of my scrapbook dedicated to our dances and other activities, l lingered over the pictures and souvenirs of my last prom --- my senior prom. A blue and gold program recalled the carefully selected tunes that were included in Vince Pattis selec- tions. Memories of Father Karpers inspiring dedication concluded by the vibrant strains of Mother Beloved will forever be our loving tribute to Mary, the Mother of Grace. The pressed remains of a once dewy-fragrant corsage brought back the light-hearted manner and thoughtiulness of my escort, a Knight for an evening dressed in his shining tux, The wonderful breakfast that we attended after the last joyous notes of Good Night, Ladies had quietly slipped into the folds of the magic spell which enveloped that special night of nights -- my senior prom, will be remembered as a perfect closing of a perfect night blessed by Our Lady's patronage. Reflections of cherry-shaped name cards, huge lace valentines and rustic fences reminded me of the Cathedral Latin and Benedictine mixers that we Stephenites sponsored in our auditorium. l recalled the thrill l experienced as I walked into the hall which l helped transform into a fairy-tale ballroom and greeted the friendly 'iprince Charmingsf' Because of the understanding and helpfulness of the Sisters, our true friends and advisors, we Stephenites shall never want for friends nor be at a loss with people, We shall never be that Sue who is all work and no play. We have learned when to work and when to play.
