us Z glasb- C U dan JEHZEHZ EST WIZEIZ The other night as I was paging through my scrapbook, I fell to reminiscing about my tirst years as a Stephenite. and the fun I had on Sue Stephen Day. I recalled that November day when I was oth- cially ushered into St. Stephens as a full-fledged freshie. Then as a sophomore, my book of memoirs informed me that I was hedecked in a black and gold Top Hat. As I began my third year, I wore an aqua and white Bell-Hop chapeau to distinguish my class as the newly-advanced junior class. Somehow this one day of the year was aiiticipaled and planned for in very much the same way that a small child awaits his birthday in the hope that he will receive a larger piece ot take and an extra dish of ice cream, I can remember, as freshmen. how proud we it-lt when we saw the dreams of sponsoring a successful skating party materialize into a gala affair. Then, as sophomores, we became unusually mission! minded and sped into lirst place in the mission drive with a total of 376 per cent by means ol a show, auctionsy .ind our homemade penny-Hlling concoctions, As juniors, our long awaited real test came. With joyful expectancy we originated and exetuted elaborate plans for our Firs: mixer held on George VVashingronls birthday. VVe even adopted clierryfshaped name cards and red. white and blue hatchets for souvenirs. My days were not all carpeted with roses. however. Many times I was pricked by the thorns ol maybe a low report card, homework blues, or other disappointments, but somehow they all seem so trivial as I look back upon them. Some of the largest thorns seem like little slivers to me now. I hope that all the upfand-coming Steplienites will enioy all the privileges and little joys that meant so much to all of us. lVIay they, too, be as proud of their Alma Nlater as we are, and may their book of memoirs be as hlled with good times as ours are.
