nc! X OCU OHZOTZOCU . . . Time and tide wait for no man . . , to each is given a brief span of time in which to accomplish .ts best he can that which is expected of him, I was given four years . . . millions of precious moments in which to study und to learn. Four years to prepare nivsell to greet the world and what it has to otler with the squared shoulders of truth and a glowing countenance radiant with expectaiicy. Today. my days of preptirzition :ire over . , mv time for studying has run out . , . today I must depart from the familiar halls ol' my beloved Alma Mater. the sheltering .irms of mv second home. As I slowly and thoughtfully iiiartlied down the aisle ol St. Stephen Church, gnrbed in the traditioiml white sap and gown, and carrying a bouquet ot scarlet rose-buds. l recalled mo-at clearly the words of wisdom that mv dear Nlonsignor :ind the good, patient Sisters have often whispered in my ear. I .isked my Divine Savior to bless me and to walk hand-in-hand with me forever down the aisles of uncertainty and the .avenues of hardships that eventually will lend nie to eternity. As I left my place to receive my diploma from IVIonsignor Cverz, I remembered the hours of study and the days of preparation for the time when I should be presented this white passport that would introduce me into my new life of surprises. excitement, and independence. Finally, as I reluctantly retraced my steps down the middle aisle, I thought of everyone who helped me to reach this day . . . my parents whose unseltish denial of pleasures enabled me to tinish my education in a Catholic school . . . and dear Monsignor who was always thinking of ways to make the school more pleasant and modern for me . . , my teachers who sacrificed their personal glory and desires to give me the splendid Cliristmn training that will shield me from worldly indifference Time and tide have not waited for ine . . . so with tears of grati- tude dimming my eyes and a sense of loneliness piercing my heart. I shall smile a greeting to the future, made all the brighter because as a graduate of St. Stephens my heart holds memories of past happiness and a joyful expectancy tor the future.
