Text from Pages 1 - 98 of the 1969 volume:

Reflections 1969 Dedication Sitting behind his wide, old-fashioned desk, Brother Firmin has been friend and confidant to many at St. Stanislaus for the past seventeen years. Coming to the Col¬ lege as bursar in 1952 he has, with patience and diligence, kept the house’s accounts. He has seen the school progress and grad¬ uate into the world the fruit of his hopes and prayers. Rising in the morning at three, Brother Firmin starts his day by making coffee for the Brothers and can be found in his office by 7:15. Perched behind his window, amid papers and pencils, he dispenses the neces¬ sities of life at a boarding school. With the alert eye of a businessman and the kindly humor of a good religious, he holds sway over his domain. Often, Brother can be heard saying to the little ones who fre¬ quent his office, “No monkey business now!” as they tinker with the fascinating objects on his desk. And in the evening, one can ' t but notice Brother Firmin in the chapel saying his Office. It is to this man whose stability and warmth seem part of the very walls of St. Stanislaus that the Staff wishes to dedicate its work. 2 BROTHER ALBAN TUCKER, S.C. I Sporting a 6-3 record, the 1968 foot¬ ball season proved to be one of the School ' s best in this decade. Although the Rocks were injury ridden most of the year, they came through with the big ones, including the teams victories over Notre Dame of Biloxi and Bay High. The St. Stanislaus team was bolstered by the talents of seniors Gravolet, Matherne, Meyers, and Boudreaux who were scholarship prospects. s.s.c. Charles Matherne (75) and Mike Meyers (84) attempt to block one of Bay High ' s punts. The strength of the Rock-a- Chaws was their blocking. Here Mike Meyers makes a key block to spring Dennis Burmaster for extra yardage. Joe Pugh (12) stops a Slidell player as Terry Phillips (10) rushes in to assist. Joe Boudreaux ' s excellent style as an end has aided Rocks with 22 receptions for 402 yards and 11 touch¬ downs. Hard fighting by Rocks sometimes resulted in injuries on both sides. Joe Boudreaux, Bill Mashburn and Dennis Burmaster sport bum legs after a hard night. Coach Cuccaro was the guiding genius behind the Rock-a-Chaws success. He is seen here preparing to initiate last minute strategy. 55 Gravolet Receives Honors Managers Chris Wegmann and Joey Monti relax as the team works out. Both share responsibility as head mana¬ gers for football, baseball and track as well as basket¬ ball. Under the guiding eye of Coach Harold Hitt, the 1968- ' 69 St. Stanislaus Track Team pro¬ duced some outstanding athletes. Special mention should be made of our fine relay teams; also, of Bill Mashburn (right) in discus, with a throw of 132 feet. But the word out¬ standing finds its real application in Mike Meyers, who placed first in Mississippi with the shot put. Mike ' s best mark for the season was fifty-four feet, six inches. It is hardly possible to say that this repre¬ sents the apogee of a remarkable career in high school athletics. Mike so distinguished him¬ self in other sports. However, it is certainly a high point in any career for it to be said that among his peers, he was Number One!
