CATHOLIC ACTION I-IE Catholic Actlon group at Samt Rose has gnven programs to entertain the girls and for the benefit of the Missions Our last program was a review of popular books Before Christmas we sponsored the collectnon of religious articles for boys in the armed forces Many girls gave medals and Holy Cards that were dear to them Their sacrifices were small 1n comparrson with those of our boys 1n the four corners of the earth At Samt Rose we attend the tradltlonal Flrst Friday Mass ln our Chapel and receive Holy Communion We also sing Missa Cantatas The glrls sang Compllne rn Chapel and on Palm Sunday a group sang Complme at Samt Dominic s Church In Samt Rose Chapel we have the Stations of the Cross on Frldays durmg I ent and Benedictlon The grotto in our school yard IS v1s1ted on many occasions during the year On the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes the rosary is sald durmg the processron In May we crown Our Lady s statue w1th a garland of roses Since December 7 1941 we have been takmg turns saymg a rosary each day for our boys ln the armed forces ANNA BERGERO 43 LAURETUQ CARR 43 I C C W HE first meeting of the junior Council of Catholic Women was held early rn September Transportatlon problems prevented general meetmgs so we chose a representatxve from each class to attend the assemblies These colonels The first social event of the Council was the Christmas Dance an evening of pleasure at the U S F Auditorlum on December elghteenth Music was by Paul I aw and h1s orchestra The Dramatic Tournament was held rn Saint Briglds Audltorlum In the prellmmarles on February twenty eighth Samt Rose gurls presented A Mmuet The Basketball Contests began on March sixth All the games were played on Notre Dame Des VICIOITCS court WV e commend the spirit and sportsman sh1p of our players and those who attended the games April fourth marked the biggest event in the Councll s year On that day the Students of all member schools in San Francisco attended Mass rn Samt Mary s Cathedral and recen ed Holy Communion praying for a just and last mg peace The Tenn1s Tournaments began on April twelfth Marie Rovere brought credit to Samt Rose by her playing in the singles matches YVe appreciate the splendid cooperauon of all our girls and we offer our best wishes to next year s Colonels for continued success Hora AYRES 43 SUE RIORDAN 43 PAC E SEVEN I EEN , .
