St. Mary-of-the-Woods. May she protect us always! Now, what is this, tears? O, Sister, the doctor ... he thinks ... our Mother will die. See how truly we carry on in her tradition. Treasurer 3 Mission Representative 3,4 Junior Red Cross Representative 3 Glee Club 1,4 21 In September 1952 we entered St. Rose Academy, a group of thirtysix girls with some sense of our purpose but with little vision of our plans. As we see our years at St. Rose in memory, they seem to correspond to the season of the year. In a manner of speaking, we were green as all things are in the SPRING. We left behind our grade school ways and with Sister Ann Monica's advice and guidance we began to see a little more clearly our spiritual, intellectual, and social responsibility. Friendships were welded in those early days, and the phrase in our Class Song, We are workers never shirkers, penetrated into our youthful minds and hearts. We grew surely but slowly and passed into SUMMER, our growing time. We brought to our Sophomore Year the determination and enthusiasm which had been nurtured in our Freshman Year. With Sister Mary Celine as our Advisor we concentrated on growing tall in the SUMMER of our high school days. We gained a better appreciation of the culture inherent in a Catholic education and began some development of our individual talents. United we worked, and we loved it! With our Junior Year came FALL with its colorful days, and we were eager to get the most out of this year's activities--socially, through St. Catherine's Day and the Prom; intellectually, by working diligently to in- crease our limited knowledge; spiritually by forming habits directed to- ward lifelong devotion to Christ and His Blessed Mother. Sister Ann Camillus gave balance to our enthusiasm and guided our energies and efforts. We gathered into our warehouse the fruits that would serve us well as Seniors and leaders. WINTER, our Senior Year, came and serious work crowned our days. Our Senior Advisor, Sister Mary Elvire, reminded us often to use these days to prepare for our vocation in life as Catholic women. All the prom ises of being Seniors were fulfilled, but the days were too short to hold everything we wanted to do. SPRING dispelled WINTER all to soon and this SPRING of 1956 brought sadness with it. Now we stand at a crossroad with four memorable years behind us and all the world ahead. St. Rose Academy has given us every opportunity to develop our own peculiar excellences. None is pre-eminent Each has learned the qualities of leadership--loy- alty, industry, cooperation--based on Catholic principles. Yes, all the world lies ahead and the challenging torch is held out to us to make it a better world. 7teaMvien Junod PieAideKt Philippa Marchino Vtce- 'P'ie6icte U Emma Nowaskie Phyllis Leimbach B.
