We have looked to you for advice and you have always given it freely. There has never been a lime when you wouldn't stop to listen to a problem or lend a helping hand. You have taught us many things throughout the years, but the most important thing you have done for us is to inspire each and every one of us to be the best that we can possibly be. To some of us, you have been a coach: to all of us, a friend. We cannot thank you enough for all of the help, un- derstanding and support you have given us as our Junior and Senior class advisor. So, it is with sincere gratitude, that we dedicate our yearbook to you, Mrs. Carol Goeke. 2 i re meat Mrs. Betty Susice has been a teacher at St. Regis Falls for nineteen years. During this time she has taught numerous students the basics of reading, 'riting and ’rithmetic, and the secrets to a perfect pot of stone soup. It is hard to find a person with the patience to pursue a career in teaching. It is even harder to find someone with the dedication and understanding to devote nearly 20 years to developing the minds of children. Though you are leaving S.R.F. Central behind — you deserve to carry with you a great sense of pride in having successfully touched so many young lives. 3 Mary A. Bush Stanley J. This years club started with 17 players and dwindled as the days went by to 15. At the end of the season, we were down to 12, due to injuries. We did have some close games, and for the first time in years, we almost defeated Colton, who is usually tops in our division. We gave them an overtime match and the girls did play their hearts out. With only one 9th grade student, we managed to give our com- petition a run for their money. The highlight of the season was a 3 to 2 win over Brushton-Moira Central. Chad Rivers led the team eleven goals, great for a 7th grade athlete’s first year of competition. Playing outstanding defense were Lee Susice and Mike Bailey at full- back, Tim Ludwig at halfback, and Sean Dibble at the goalie position. Next year’s goal will be to improve upon our one win and 7 loss record. S.R.F. We had only 4 girls from last year’s undefeated team. They did a fine job with an 8-2 record — the only losses coming from a strong B.M.C. team. We are looking forward to a strong J.V. team next year. Good Luck! The Varsity volleyball team had yet another successful season, compiling a perfect record of 10 wins and 0 losses during the regular season, capturing first place in Division II! P. Shutt. Girls Varsity Basketball Our record doesn't really tell the truth of the S.R.F. team. We had several games that were close and we lost in the last few seconds of the game. We turned the ball over at crucial times causing us to lose at the end. We are looking forward to a better season next year. Good Luck! The S.R.F. Girls J.V. Basketball team met with hardship and disappointment during its 1987-88 season. Illness, injury and academic difficulties were some of the obstacles which eventually caused the cancellation of the remainder of the season, after nine games and a 1 and 8 record. Fine individual performances by some players and great effort by all team members, created some exciting moments in games which were often played with as few as four SRF players on the floor. Surely such adversity caused the girls to work together, depend upon each other, and build the character and team spirit necessary for future athletic participation. Chas. Goeke J.V. Melody Parker, Eva Chase, Julie Page, Missy Goodreau, Sabrina Winters and coach Carol Goeke. The Saints, under the direction of Coach Carol Goeke, won the Division III title with a 10-0 record. In two pre-season tournaments they also were first, giving them a 33 match winning streak for the year. After losing 6 players from the 1986 Section X championship team, we had to rebuild for '87. With a lot of hard work and determination, this team won the Division III title. In the first round of sectional play, the Saints defeated Lisbon in a straight 3 game match. In the second round, the Saints rallied after a 1 game loss to win the next 3 games against Brushton-Moira. The true test of ability and poise came in the second “D” Championship match against Morristown. After having a foot in the grave, down 2 games and behind 14-13 in the third game, the Saints regrouped. The true champions went out on the court and won the game with fast foot work, hard spikes and serves. They completed their amazing comeback with 15-10, 15-8 wins. The final Section X Championship game wasn't so sweet on Wednesday, December 16. The Saints seemed to be a bundle of nerves, therefore the players could not get it all together as a team and came out on the short end of the deal. They lost the match to a tough Ogdensburg team. Scores were 15-3, 15-3, 8- 15, and 15-12. Even though they did not win this match, they are still “True Champions” to Coach Goeke.
