B K B I e A I I • N You have been at SRF for twenty years. We first met you when we entered Jr. High. Your classes were new and interesting, and we learned many skills that we can all use later in life. Metalworking, woodworking, drafting, whichever class, we all made useful projects. The good Samaritan of our school, you can always be counted on to build, repair, or invent things we need. Everyday, you are there with a smile, and a joke to brighten our day. The Yearbook Staff would like to thank you, especially for the help you gave us with our difficult pages. And so, we, the Class of 1986, dedicate our yearbook to you, Mr. Santo Seminatore! MO-1, but this doesn't mean the hard work was lacking. Our team was young and inex perienced. but very seldom out ot a game until the final horn. It was a trustrating season due to the strong competition from the more experienced teams in our division. Two members received All Northern Awards: First Team Award to Cassie Smith and Honorable Mention to Stephanie Smith. CONGRATULATIONS GIRLS! BOYS SOCCER Even though our soccer Saints were long tong overdue, the boys were unable to earn or luckout a victory this season, with an overtime home loss to Madrid being the closest they came Despite the odds against them to win. the Saints did have some semi highlights Chuck Roscoe's dramatic encounter with the mud. Tom Brown s receiving only one red card. Steve Boulds scoring — tor the opposition. Jett Sevey s delensive shutout ol Hermon s Swedish import, and Darrin Peck's testy goal. Without the “fast pitch most teams are deteated. Our team played good defense, but we were lacking in the pitching Players need to work as hard off the field as well as on the field to upgrade our record. We do have all but one player returning to the ' 86'' team. GOOD LUCK NEXT YEAR! This was the result ot tine serving and hard spiking Six players will be returning to next year's team, so with more hard work we are looking lor another lirst place GOOO LUCK! The Varsity Saints tied lor lirst in their division, their only loss going to BMC We lost to BMC the lirst round ol play, but returned the lavor in the second round, giving us both 9 wins and 1 loss In Play-off action, we met Lisbon in the first round, defeating them by scores ol 16-14. 15-1. 15-4. The second round ol play SRF defeated BMC at St Lawrence University in three straight games and the third round ol play we lound ourselves losing a heartbreaker lo last year s Section 10 champs. Congratulations to all the girls who played, and good luck to seniors Cassie Smith and Crystal Wail J.V. GIRLS BASKETBALL The season proved to be both challenging and frustrating. The girls were defeated in many close games, but continued to grow athletically throughout it all. Each girl displayed much effort and sportsmanship. They are to be commended for all their hard work. J.V. BOYS' BASKETBALL The inability to put the ball into the basket on a consistent basis plagued this year's junior varsity team, resulting in a 3-11 won lost record. Sophomores Chuck Rivers and Paul Ploof carried the burden of scoring and rebounding, often outperforming much taller opponents. Both will be good additions to next year's Varsity. The Saints did maintain good morale and kept working hard to improve their skills throughout the season. This showed in the second half of the season, los- ing by only a “little instead of a lot. Team members were as follows: Senior. Cassie Smith; Juniors. Amy Boulds. Teena Susice. Stephanie Smith. Sophomores. Annette Langdon. Tesa Sweet. Margaret Jenkins; and Freshman. Angie Marshall. With additional practice practice and experience, along with a couple JV players moving up. we will have the foundation for a strong team next year. 40 VARSITY BOYS BASKETBALL The boys' varsity basketball team completed its 1985-86 season with a league record of 9 wins and 5 losses — good for third place in Division II. Five seniors and six juniors comprised this year's club. Three seniors were named to the NAC All-Star Team: First Team: Jeff Sevey. Third Team: Tom Brown and Greg Goyea. The team is to be congratulated for having a successful season. Despite lack of height and game experience, they defeated many other clubs with more talent. These boys played together as a team, worked hard throughout the season and certainly played up to its potential. 48 49 TII CIABK Row 1: T. Peck. Mrs. Tharrett, K. Crump. B. O’Day. Row 2: J. Absent: Mrs. Carla Hathaway. To THE CLASS OF 1986: Please reflect on the following poem by Robert Frost. THE ROAD NOT TAKEN Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I — I took the one less traveled by. And that has made all the difference. — Robert Frost Each of you will follow different paths in life. Please choose carefuly and pursue your goals steadfastly. I wish each of you continued success, good health, and happiness as you meet the challenges of this new beginning. Sincerely, Vernon Hobbs Your Principal To The Class of 1986: It is already tomorrow. Time, which never stops its journey, will pass before your eyes. In only a few moments you will be in an adult world looking back on the years you spent at St. Regis Falls Central School. When you do, the photos, facts and memories in this book will be your step- ping stones to the years you spent at SRF. I can't resist telling you of the special importance that the Class of 1986 holds for me. My wife and I have had with us for the past 18 years a constant reminder of the Class of '86. It is as a proud father, as well as your Superintendent, that I wish you all the very best in the years ahead. I trust that your memories of St. Regis Falls Central School will be pleasant ones and that your futures will be filled with hap- piness and success. For each of you, your own success and happiness is in your own hands. But collectively the future of the nation, and indeed the world, rests with you. I wish for you a bright tomorrow.
