Table of Contents i 1984 Regent dedication Mr. Wayne Walbridge Throughout our high school years, you have not only been our teacher but our friend. You have treated us as equals instead of in- feriors, and communicated with us openly, as if we had been long time friends. No matter how trivial the problem, you have been one of few willing to give up free time to help us. You are one who shows real professional concern in giving advice and in helping in any way you can. In our opinion, you will always remain the friend you have always been. With sincere gratitude, we, the graduating class of 1984, proudly dedicate the 1984 Regent to you, Mr. Wayne Walbridge. 2 §pecial Recognition The Class of 1984 would like to extend their thanks to Karleen lohnson for her many years of dedication and support to our class! Some of you will wish to accumulate wealth; some of you will wish to accumulate power; some will strive for prestige; and some will strive for making a contribution to the com- munity and society. Above all of these, it is my hope that you will find happiness. You will need to learn to stick with things a little longer, not to give up quickly, and to give yourself a little extra push. Every extra push in the right direction adds to your chances of happiness in life. Without happiness, life has little meaning. But if you look for it and work for it, hap- piness can be found. Sometimes happiness is not always found in large portions. Often it needs to be sought in small pieces. May the years ahead find you constantly looking for, working for, and finding happiness. Sincerely, TO THE CLASS OF '84 During the rather brief time I have worked with you, I have seen you face controversy and stress. You have been faced with issues that have torn at your minds and hearts for resolution; issues that presented no blacks or whites, but shades of gray. Issues that caused you to cry out unfair in frustration. Perhaps the experience of facing these issues will serve you best in the days ahead as you set out to make your mark in life. Perhaps you will have learned earlier than your peers that the real issues always exist in shades of gray and that life, as lovely and cherished as it may be, is not fair. I hope your future is filled with health and happiness and may you be successful. I would like to share with you a verse which, for me, describes the meaning of success. RECIPE FOR SUCCESS To laugh often and much; to win respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch dr a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you lived This is to have succeeded. - Author Unknown 55 s c h o 0 1 B E.
