“
The 1978 REGENT is presented by the SENIOR CLASS of St. Regis Falls Central School St. Regis Falls, New York “What else in life matters but happiness — in life, in work, in health.” — A. Einstein Our class — we've been together since those first terrifying moments in kindergarten. Over the years, we've gained and lost a few faces. We’re all individu- als with our special talents and problems, but we share the personality of our class that, as a group, makes us unique. We enjoy life and like to have a good time. We’re sports-minded and prefer things in a group. We as a class, are creative rather than intel-. lectual and very interested in our originality. Our main goal in life is to be happy. Samuel Coleridge once said that “The happiness of life is made up of minute fractions — the little soon forgotten charities of a kiss or smile, a kind look, a heartfelt compliment and the countless infinitesimals of pleasurable and genial feeling.” I think that when we look back at our high school years we will remember the happy times we shared together, the warmth, the laughter, the friendship that made our class so special and such an important part of our lives. Do you remember '68? Mr. C. livens up the teachers room with his sparkling repartee. Jamie and Dave always seem busier than they are. “Gosh is he good lookin. Tomorrow’s hot dog is today’s hound dog. 4 Goke and the girls size up the opposition. 5 Connie demonstrates table manners while Tawney cats another finger. As usual. Lynne gives all her attention to the class. 6 Tim and Trapper John hang out at the game. Tracie whistles for a cab in St. Regis Falls center. Professor Ashley is momentarily fuddled by a question from the class. Welcome to the grand opening. See what happens when you inherit S 10.000? Dedication We first met you four years ago in ninth grade, and ever since that day you have challenged us to do just a little better, to try a little harder, to push ourselves just a little farther down the road of life. You have inspired us to try to make something of ourselves that we never thought we could. We have learned from you in many ways that knowledge is power whether we use it in class, on the basketball court, or out of school. You have never been too busy to help us with a problem no matter what it was. You have yelled at us, talked to us. and laughed with us. You have been both a teacher and a friend. So it is with grateful thanks for these things that we dedicate the 1978 Regent to you. Mr. Wayne Walbridge. Mr. Wayne Walbridge A few words to l he referee The coach puzzles out his starting five. The players listen to time-out instruction. Mr. Walbridge works as hard at leaching Last night's NBA games get torn apart between classes, as at coaching. Board Of Education Mr. John Tripcny — Clerk 27 We will always look back on our teachers with respect. In the lower grades we thought they were foolish to make us learn all those tiresome facts and figures, and toil in darkness over brain stretching “thought questions. But in high school, as we grew and matured, our teachers seemed to grow with us. They made us realize that education was more than the games it was in grade school; that education was something we could take pride in. something we could apply in our everyday lives, something that could help us reach the goals we set. To paraphrase Mark Twain, when we were young, we were amazed at how ignorant our teachers were; when we became seniors, we were astonished at how much they had learned in a few short years. 28 FIFTH: Mrs. Hilts. In these classes, from our earliest years, we shared our hopes and dreams, our ideas and perceptions, our laughter and our disappointments. But from these hundreds of meetings, we acquired new knowledge, essential skills, and realistic insights into the world out there.” We became prepared, readied, strengthened for the future whatever it might hold. In short, we became educated. 37 Junior Class Treas. C. Cole. See. M. Aiken. Pres. V. Richards. V. Pres. D. Cox. Row One: M. Goyea. A. Susice. M. Jessmer. B. Marsh. B. Virkler. Row Two: C. Ashley. T.
