MR. HARRY WAGAR FROM OUR PRINCIPAL It seems fitting that the Class of 1963 has looked upward and chosen out of the heavens its theme for its yearbook this year - CLOUDS. Thru the ages, men with the rare gift of imagery have contemplated the ever- changing formation and dissolution of clouds, and their colors and shapes have suggested to them thoughts which they have invested with great beauty. Longfellow saw The hooded clouds, like friars, ” Shakespeare once wrote, A cloud that's dragonish; a vapour sometimes like a bear or lion. Our earliest knowledge of man shows his interest in the heavens. Over 4, 000 years ago, when the Chal- daeans divided the stars into constellations, he began his attempts to unravel the mysteries they presented. A method of trigonometrical parallax was used to measure the distance of star-clouds before man had left the earth. Only 350 years ago men were burned at the stake for trying to advance the theory that the earth went around the sun. The years before the war were described by Sir Winston Churchill in his book, The Gathering Storm. It can be said many of you were born in stormy weather and you are to be graduated as we enter an age of direct exploration of space when men like Major Gagarin, Commander Shepard and others were to break thru the clouds and see that which was never before visible to man. Your future promises to be lived, in exciting times. My wishes for you at this time can be found in the popular song: May you find a silver lining back of every cloud you see” especially in the title of the song, May the Good Lord Bless and Keep You.”

MAURICE FINNEGAN Superintendent Members of the Board of Education, Representing all areas of the school district, establish policy for our school, reflected in the system- atic efficient operation of an institution of learning. It is a difficult and essential phase of school life. Long hours, which often go unno- ticed, but for which we are deeply grateful, are spent in determining this policy. The Board of Education makes the most efficient use of the tax dollar in providing the instruments of education. This year under the leadership of our new superintendent, Mr. Maurice Finnegan, new services and equipment have been provided.
