DEDICATION MR. EUGENE DANFORTH At Home For over a dozen years Mr. Eugene Danforth, fa- miliarly known as Coach tohis innumerable friends, has directed us in Physical Education classes, trained our teams and spent countless hours in service to our school. Outstanding in his nature are evenness of temper, a sincere interest in youth, and devotion to the de- velopment of character in those who come under his influence. For these unique qualities, we dedicate the 1963 edition of the Regent to Coach Danforth. Ready for class At basketball practice

We listen to lecture Mrs smith At rehearsal We read THE ENGLISH DEPARTMENT It has been the hope that each year in the REGENT, one department of the school could be featured. In 1959, the Health Department was given, prominence, in 1960, the. Home Economics Department, and now in 1963, the Eng- lish Department headed by Nelda Young Smith. Courses in English are an essential part of the curriculum of high school students. Use of language, correct speech, and writing are so basic and necessary to life that the stu- dent must pursue the study of English during every year in school. The various phases of English are indicated in the pictures. We read, write, listen to lectures and records, view film strips and movies, and dramatize. All of this is designed to improve our language skills, make us better listeners and thinkers, and prepare us for life outside of school.
