“THE 1955 CLASS HISTORY” Four years ago, S.R.F. was blessed with thirty-three green freshmen. Under the counsel of Mr. MacRae, we were guided through the new routine of high school classes. Chosen for our class officers were: President, Billy Baxter; Vice President, Ruth LaFluer; Secretary, Danny Towers; and Treasurer, Lloyd Roscoe. Sally Robinson and Bert Skiff were elected to Student Council. During the year thirteen class members left. We started our sophomore year with twenty-four students. Mr. Sharpstene was our class advisor and the class officers were: President, Paul Gadoua; Vice President, Edward Moose; Secretary, Sonya Winters; and Treasurer, Anne Baker. Jerry Waldman and Edna Monica were chosen to represent the class in the Student Council. Before the school term was over Jerry was transferred to Nottingham high School in Syracuse. He was replaced in Student Council by Paul Gadoua. We all missed Jerry and his friendly smile. During the year, with the help of Mr. Sharpstene and the rest of the faculty our brains were crammed with more knowledge. Our class was made smaller still when six students left before the term was over. As we began our Junior year we were faced with much harder work. We knew we had to get started financially if we wanted to go to New York in our Senior year. We started our fund with $10, earned by selling the most subscriptions for the Crowell Publishing Company. At Christmas time we made and sold wreaths. About $45 was cleared. We had the Goblin Hop combined with a floor show around Halloween and later die Spring Fling. We sponsored the Junior-Senior Banquet which was held in the homemaking room in our school. David Parks, President, gave the Welcome and the Advice to the Seniors. The response was given by Paula Ward. The people who helped us through this busy and prosperous year were; first of all our class advisor, Mrs. Mendelsohn, our Principal, Mr. Wagar, and our class officers who were as fol- lows: President, David Parks; Vice President, Lloyd Roscoe; Student Council, Edna Monica and Ned LeMieux; Secretary, Anne Baker; and Treasurer, Dorothy Richards, who was later replaced by Sonya Winters when Dorothy left school to marry Leon Perry. Art Dashnaw and Ira Parks joined the Armed Forces, Mary Garvey and Earl LaFrance left school to go to work. We started our last and most important school year with seventeen students. Maurice Potter, who went to Massena in his Sophomore year, returned to graduate with us. We found ourselves in the senior room with Miss Harvey as our class advisor. Our class officers were: President David Parks; Vice President, Maurice Potter; Treasurer, Sonya Winters; and Secretary, Phyllis Woods. To represent us in the Student Council, we re-elected Edna Monica and Ned LeMieux. We had $135.71 in our treasury, but realized we had to have much more before we could start our trip to New York. We started making money by selling magazine subscriptions and with the help of the rest of the high-school, made a bigger profit than any other class up to date. We soon got started on our Senior Play The Antics of Andrew. We found that play- practice after school could be fun and we all enjoyed it. With the co-operation and the help of the whole school, we made a great success of the Annual Senior Carnival. Later we put on a banquet for the Rebekahs. Mrs. Flanders suggested that the Junior and Senior girls who took Homemaking together, work on a jellymaking project. Both classes brought supplies and $25 was realized. The Seniors took over the job of publishing the Siren.” Dave Parks did a fine job as Editor. The whole class worked on the Regent to make it the best yearbook to date. Dick Wagar and Phyllis Woods worked hard as Co-Editors. The next item on the agenda, as this book goes to press, is the trip to New York. Mr. and Mrs. Whiteside have consented to act as chaperones. Then with the trip only a memory, all thought will be turned to our ultimate goal, graduation--and the future. Our four years in high school have been very successful, but nothing we have done could have been possible if it had not been for our Principal, Mr. Wagar; our senior advisor. Miss Harvey, and the cooperation of the faculty. To all these people, we say, Thank you for four of the happiest years of our lives.
