Murphy, S. Stubbs, H. Kortan, and C. Honour. Losing some close games, the Girls ' Junior Varsity Basketball team finished the season with a 3-9 record. Coached by Miss Barbara Heyl, the girls showed strength, but were hurt by their slow offensive starts. Starting for J.V. were sophomores Sue Byer, Rosie Comacho, Laura Johansen, Janet Kruer and Laura Stout. The Freshman girls ' team fared better with a 7-3 record. Under the guidance of Coach Tony Stephens, the girls worked hard to overcome their weaknesses of inexperience and weak shooting. Mary O ' Brien and Cynthia Taylor led the team in scoring. The highlight of the season was the 32-21 come-from-behind victory over Roswell. At middle left, Janet Kruer dribbles around her opponent; Freshman Holly Kortan, middle right, drives toward teh basket, and at lower left, when Freshman Coach Tony Stephens talks, the girls listen.
