Nights in White Satin A Little Night Music hit the Sheraton-Atlanta Hotel on May 12 as the annual junior-senior prom topped off festival week. The two classes worked together on preparation and band location selection. Ruckus played for the over 200 people who attended. The seniors walked into their class song, Last Dance, while the juniors danced to Nights in White Satin. The high attendance insured that the traditional prom will continue in the coming years.

Days of Art End in The second annual Arts Festival was a week of fun and activity both during and after school hours. The festival was planned and carried out by Mr. Augustine Dunn and Miss Pat Kerner, with lots of help from the students. Picture-taking, gl ass-blowing, face-painting and helium-eating were prevalent on the breezeway during lunchtimes. Even rain couldn ' t daunt festival spirits! After-hours special programs were planned for the community ' s cultural enjoyement. The library was the background for an orchestra presentation; and dramatic readings from Ragnoroc, which came out during the week, were held in the cafeteria. Culture had come to St. Pius! 36

Honors and Awards In years past, honors day activities have grown so long that this year ' s program was broken into two assemblies. The first assembly was held May 8, and honored club members and leaders. Awards were given to A.V.A. members, Golden Echoes and Golden Lines editors, and band members, to name a few. The Carter L. Stout award went to senior class president, Anna Manarin. The second assembly awarded excellence in academics. It was held May 25. The seniors and department heads arrived dressed in caps and gowns. Students were honored for excellence and improvement, and two retiring teachers, Sister Mary Frances Duffy and Mr. Albert Nemeth, were recognized for their contributions. Freshman Mary Mizelle was awarded the Betty Patrick Scholarship. Lisa Volmer received the new Home and School Sophomore Award. Juniors Chris Benjamin and Mary Schmitt received the Harvard and Holy Cross Book Awards. Anna Manarin was awarded the Journal Cup, and seniors Laura Ward and Ron Logan were distinguished with the Christian Living Award. 38
