First place went to Anvil, a four-piece band led by alumnus Kurt Hansen and singer Renee Frechette. Second place went, for the second year, to Mike Bergmann and John Greybull for their pickin ' and strummin ' . OUR TOWN AND OTHER Some 25 St. Pius students participated in the production of Our Town and Other Places of Interest held this year February 1, 2 and 4. Under the direction of Mr. Augustine Dunn, the presentation included scenes from Our Town written by Thornton Wilder, and Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry. Also, a few little- known works by authors Tennessee Williams, Mark Twain, Jules Fiefer and Langston Hughes were staged. One change brought about by the production was the conversion of the stage. The thrust style stage was used, with two half oval shaped ramps on each side of four different levels extending from the front of the stage out into the audience. According to Mr. Dunn, this type of stage brings forth intimacy between the actors and the audience. Also, the actors can become more versatile.
