for the music. In our estimation, it was the best Prom in years with all the Senior boys attired in Tuxedos. Late in january, we began practice on our Senior play, The Whole Town's Laughing, to be nresented on March 17. 3 66144 Mdfory It was a shy and bashful but determined group of freshmen that entered the ninth grade room on that first September morning At that time we were but gleams 1n the eyes of the Seniors because the junior Wiener Roast was only a month away Well, we ll let you guess the rest Afterwards they even tried to make us dance with girls' But things were different when our Freshman Frolrc rolled around Th1s was also the year that football held a real place on the sports calendar Although the first year was mostly practice sessnons, we were promised six competmons the following year Then, with our exams passed, we became Sophomores At the opening of our Sophomore year we were privileged to take our places in the newer and larger High School building Due to the increased enrollment, the class was divided 1nto two home rooms This year we held our annual dance, the Sophomore Stomp ID the school gym, with Tommy Pratt and his orchestra furnrshrng the music Toward the end of the year many of us were fortunate enough to attend the Senior Prom Then once more school closed for the summer vacation, leavlng us wtth the pleasant thought that we would soon be Iunrors As uniors our first and most rmportant task was to elect class ofiicers That accomplished, we began our sale of Christmas cards to acqu1re sufficient In December we put on our greatest success yet, The Sno Frolrc, Vwlfh Mike Kellys orchestra supplying the orchestration As the cnd of the year drew closer we attended the Senior Prom at the Hart Hotel and mo weeks later we were hosts to the Seniors at the unlor Senlor Banquet Graduation nrght we were given the honor of escorting the Senlors up the aisle in church During our vacation we pondered over and over aga1n What w1ll it be like when we are Seniors? And now with this important honor placed upon our shoulders we embarked upon our most momentous Journey that of our Senior year At our first class meet1ng lt was unanimously decided to publrsh a new and better year book' You are now reading tt' Our first big activity was the Halloween dance whrch turned out to be a big success Next, with Christmas coming we began our plans for the Senror Prom It was to be held on December 28th ln order to allow vaca tnonmg alumni to attend E Benson s Orchestra from Lansing was our chorce 81 O ' 9 3 . . , ' funds to sponsor the junior-Senior Banquet. 7 7 ' 1

A1185 Z' Clear runway two' Clear runway two' 1946 M com1ng ID for a lindmg Wonder where you are' Why of course it the field of McCf1uleys Shortest Route Between Esky and Battle Creek 1n thc Yetr 7000 The1r slogtn lb Tlke A Tr1p Bound To Get Ycu Bick ln T1me Cfor schoolcj As the plane tax1es across the field two p1lots are seen commg from the ready room The door of the transport opens and the well known mar1ne ace Ort Hox1e h1s array cf medals gl1tter1ng 1n the sun steps out He flashes the sm1le wh1ch made h1m famous and hurr1es toward the two p1lots whom we recogn1ze as B1ll Ludwa and jrm Rob1nson As we eavesdrop 1 l1ttle we hear that the Class of 46 lS to have 1 reun1on at our old Alma Mater the next day runn1ng across the field the pres1dent of the a1rl1nes Carol McCauley and h r busmess manager Mar1etta Frtzgerald fthe bus1ness IS 10 the redp on t1m as usual Settl1ng down for the journey we recogmze the stew ardess to be our old classmate Mary Mangan whose charmxng personal1ty and soc th1ng d1spos1t1on prc m1 s to make the tr1p an enjoyable one We make our first stop at Green Bay where we p1ck up Bruce Myers whos C' een Bay Packers have just completed thexr th1rd v1ctor1ous season under the1r belox d coach W1th h1m we find Dr McSherry and h1S asslstant Georgette R1chter who have just completed a Cf1flC3l operat1on at the Er1n Hospital A short t1me later we arr1ve at M1lwaukee and whom should we see boardmg th plane but Rudy Bartholomew the ed1tor 1n ch1ef of the M1lwaukee Gazette 7 just now he IS busy tak1ng notes for an ed1tor1al on our class reun1on As we resume our journey the stewardess calmly announces that there lS a storm just ahead and that we shall be forced to delay our journey for a few hours Du to the skrll of our p1lots we land safely and descend1ng from the plane we find ourselves on the ch1cken farm of the now prom1nent lawyer oseph Powell He tells us that the nearest phone 15 at the rural school house where stand1ng IH the doorwav was another alumna Pat Sweet Here we telephone the You Crash Em We Wreck Em Garage under the propnetorshxp of Rus ell K1ttelton and George Monaghan Wh1le they repa1r the plane we persuade the four of them to return w1th us to Battle Creek We are sorry to hear from Pat that Gertrude Olmstead w1th her boss Ted Cebelak owner of the Smoke and Choke Tobacco Co and Pat Metz star of Maestro Glenn Henrys opera Wlll not be able to meet us 1n Detro1t but vull be at the reun1on as soon as p0ss1ble 85 'A A 11 n -- ll 1 ' , t A 1 4 .5 H 4-A171 ar qT I S 5 5 1 x 3 if Q. ll Q 1 +2 ' ' f sf' .
