CLASS PROPHECY My classmates have asked me, Larry Ashbaugh, to predict their future lives. I do not profess to be a Swamieg however, I shall try to foretell the truth. I will concentrate deeply and climb upward into the future. When I arrive in the future on my magic carpet, I see a large dam on the Clarion River. I lower my magic carpet to the dam and take a tour, I discover the chief engineer on this job is a chap who graduated in 56 . He is Bill McCanna. As I take my carpet back to the sky, I am passed by an atomic airplane and I believe -wait, I shall catch it. See! I was right Bill Burrell is behind the throttlcs. and Millie Shaner is hostess on this flight. On I go over the peaks of the Allegheny Mountains, down in the valley I see a ranch house with two lovely children in the back yard. I fly past the window, and I see Joyce McBride turning on the automatic dish washer. Just then I hear a crash on the main highway and when the polic arrive the officer says. I am officer Ken Shoup. What happened here? Then an insurance adjuster ar- rives and introduces himself as John Wood. I leave this scene and travel on to a small town nestled in the valley. As I float through town, I see on the corner of First and Main a small beauty shopg as I come closer, I see the sign says. Mary Jane's Beauty Shop,' property of Mary Jane Edinger. Continuing on down Main Street, I come to a sign reading School Zone. Surely I can find some of my classmates here. I was right because as I float past the first grade rooml recognize the teacher as Caroline Livermore. .Iust when I am passing the door, Caroline calls the school nurse to come and look at one of her children. As she starts down the hall. I can't distinguish her at first: then she gets closer, and I recognize her as Peggy Ditty. I leave the school house and continue on down the street when I develop trouble in my magic carpet. I look around and find a garage. The chief mechanic, whom I recognize as Dick Beichner, greets me as I enter the office. Isee Deanna Reed taking dictation from David Yingling, the sales manager. Iwait a few momentsg Dick comes into say that my magic carpet is fixed. Well. it is getting late, and I must get back to 1956 where we see thirteen seniors leaving St. Petersburg-Richland High School. If the law of averages holds true, maybe 50 per cent of these predictions will come true, but fate will decide the course of all their lives.
