Front Row Bull Barry Jum McKenzie Jack McGowan Henry Yetman Joe Colluns Owen McGowan Standing Edward ORourke Assistant Coach Jack Bergen Joe Horvath Jack ORourke Ron Upton Chuck Lezark and Wulluam Stretch Kreuger BASKETBAH HE St Peter s Cardinals quintet opened their regular season with a vuctory and appropriately enough ended ut with a victory ln the opening game of the season the Cards played host to St Rose of Belmar downing the shore quuntet by a 37 33 score The Petreans then traveled to LaSalle of Oakdale L I and dropped a heartbreaker to the Cadets losing 46 40 Returning home the Cardinals met two Bug City fuves un the person of Regus Hugh and Power Memorial dropping the furst to Regus 48 3l vuctory After taking St Mary s of South Amboy and Perth Amboy Catholuc unto camp the boys lost a tough one to a powerful Trenton Catholuc aggregatuon Beatung Rahway Hugh un a surprusungly close game 36 35 on a foul shot by Chuck Lezark the boys dropped four straught uncludung a 39 37 defeat by New Brunswick Hugh The Cards came out of their slump by meeting and defeating the Hugh- land Park Owls, 50-43. Following a loss to Rahway and a defeat at the hands of St. Rose's, the Perth Amboy Panthers took the year's series with the Car- dinals. However, the boys ended the season on a successful note, beating St. Mary's of South Amboy, New Brunswick High, and Perth Amboy Catholic. Entering the State Tournament, the Cards drew Trenton Catholic for the fifth straight year and were eliminated by the Capital City five. ln the season's finals the Cards lost to a strong Regis Five by a 55-4l score in a benefit contest. All in all, the season was a successful one. Coach Kreiger, who is to be commended on the outstanding job he did in training and molding his squad into a smooth, aggressive unit, should be proud of his boys. Led by Jack O'Rourke, Chuck Lezark and Bill Barry, the Cardinals gave an excellent account of themselves in all the games played. To the Seniors who are leaving the squad, we say, Well Done, and to the boys returning we say, Good Luck.
