There are many who have Gone a great deal to make our sworn stay at Saint Peter's a happy and prosperous one. We, who are about to cake our places in the world, show our sincere appreciation to one who has done the most for us--the lace Father Patrick J. O'Connor. Our only regret is that he is non alive to see our small token of recognition. To Father O'Connor, who by dedicating twenty-nine years of his life to Saint Peter's parishoners, has created a debt which can never be repaid, we reverently dedicace this our year book. - -I I l-Q i I i E gl 1 F l 1, . ix, ir , 5. ll i ,is z. , 1 Y Y 'N , H E :N U J s li! ,r ,v I 1 H 'I 1,1 lxx l I I 1. It is very fitting that we should salute with honor and gratitude these humble nuns who have given all for God and for us. We thank not only our present faculty but also all the Sisters who, at one time or another, have helped us in our struggle up the ladder of education. Since it is impossible for us to offer them any earthly reward, we pray that God in His goodness will bestow on them an over abundance of spiritual riches. Once more we thank you for a job well done, and promise to hold high in this anti-christian world the principles of Christ which you have taught us. After the first few weeks we became acquainted, later we chose the officers of our freshmen class. They were: 12015 Beatrice Goldie, President, Margaret Lacey, Vice-president, Carolyn Hallett, Secretary, and Elizabeth Flynn, Treasurer. Room 202 chose Richard Dolan, President, Bernice Thomas, Vice-president, Maureen Ryan, Secretary, and Charles McCaslin, Treasurer: Terror reigned in the hearts of the freshies as the ini- tiation by the sophomores took its toll, but our fears were diminished by the invitation to our first social held by the 1 W A 1 sophomores at Renziehausen Park. The Christmas Cantata was 5 ,.. 1 hardly over before mid-year exams were upon us and all atten- 2 tion was turned to study. The sportsminded students showed H their ability by participation in the intramural basketball league. Then came the Easter vacation, which was soon fol- Q lowed by the campaign to raise money for the senior operetta, Q with the freshmen vying with the upper classmen to receive Q the promised reward of a half holiday. A The final struggle of exams arrived and passed with the M results that we no longer were silly freshies but sophisti- Q cated sophomores. u y SOPHOMORE YEAR Q The three summer months passed very swiftly, once again Q1 we returned to study and hard this year, was This was a year of do the initiating while The party we later held Free Library on October time and energy we felt good old St. Peter's High for another year of work. As we turn over a page in our scrapbook of memories, before us lies our third year at Saint Peter's. 'e chosen to lead their class were: Richard Dolan Presldent Of 305, and Beatrice Goldie, president of 306. The year took the usual course of hard work and study. The advent of spring served as a cue for the Junior-Senior Glee Club, to once again dust off their vocal chords, and thrill parents and friends with their songs. The airwaves also carried the voices of some of our classmates in a radio presentation on the Folklore of our country. On May 2h the boys and girls of the senior and junior classes decked them- selves out in a gorgeous array of gowns and new suits. Their objective was the Youghiogheny Country Club. It was prom night and we danced it away under the melodic strain of Ben Boden's orchestra. The dance music, still lingering in our heads, was soon replaced by church music. Another Graduation day had come and as the last of the senior class stepped through the doors of Saint Peter's Church, it was with pride that we stepped up to take their place. As the hymn, WHoly God,H came to a close, do did our Junior Year. SENIOR YEAR The date was September 6, 1950. It marked, for us, the beginning of the'end of our high school education. For the fourth time Richard Dolan stepped into the presidency while Thomas Mullaly led his half of the class. October ushered in a note of sadness, for our benevolent paston Rev.Patrick J. 0'Connor, went to join God's elect. With a warm greeting, we later welcomed Rev. Leo McCrory as our new pastor. The important spiritual highlight of the year was the Day of Recollection conducted by Father Edward Murray on April 20. In May the senior class presented WTurn Back The Clock,W while the Glee Club filled the air with sweet song. Evening gowns were brought out of mothballs and shy boys asked giggling girls to the prom held May 23. At long last, Class Day has arrived and we realize that our time is running out. Before we know it our Graduation Mass will be drawing to a close. Soon we, as a class, will leave our Alma Mater. Before we step out to take our places in this troubled world, we the graduating class of 1951, would like to ex- press a deep-hearted thank you to the Sisters who toiled so laboriously to teach us, to the priests, for their helping hand in temporal and spiritual difficulties, and we espe- cially wish to thank our parents who have SCPIVGTI S0 hard that we may experience the thrill of this day. ,ft -,. .tg,y,a,, .:g , ..':f,,.-le, wg0!mAr?i1?,,' , 3.
