VARSITY CLUB The Year 1949 was 0 momentous one in S. P. A.'s Sports Program. Realizing the need for 0 motivating force to incite greater interest and participation in the school's sports pro- gram, 0 group of Iettermen under the leadership of Sylvester Smoldone met, drew up a charter and constitution, and founded the Varsity Club , which is under the odvisership of Father Curley and Coaches John O'Brien and Denny Corsole. Grouped below are the charter members, more familiarly known to us as: Syl'l Smoldone, Prese, Johnny Hennessy, Secretory- Treos., Judger Reynolds, Vice-Pres., Jiggs Moglione, Earsy Walsh, Lorry Mitchell, Johnny Scovone, Phil Waring, Skip Tompkins, Moose Mogovern, Dick O'Rourke, Ted Landry, Jim Clukies, HBud Murphy and Tom Mullen.

GIRLS' SPORTS But the boys don't capture all the headlines! The girls have on GC- tlve sports program, with the Ver- sity Cheerleaders playing an en- vied 0nd much-soughteofter port. Seniors Jeonhette Bootier, Gertrude Collins, Elinor Johnson, Teresa Rob- bins, and Juniors Margaret Dee Gregory and Rosemary Trombly made up this yeorts squad. Girls' Basketball, inaugurated at St. Peter's only last year and coached by Skidmore Phys-Edt Majors, has proved 0 distinct suc- cess, as witness action shot below.
