BOARD OF EDUCATION A. W. Cook Director N. P. Langsjeon Treasurer W. H. MacKenzie Clerk The board of Education of any community must have the interest of its young people at heart in order to fully administer to their educational needs. The Board of Education of Independent School District Number One of St. Peter is very well represented from business and economic fields in the community, and has performed its tasks to the best of its ability. Our school district is quite fortunate in having its educational needs admin- istered by this representative group of the people. 4

IN MEMORIAM In loving memory of Sheldon Whose earnest smiles we shall miss. His vacant chair in the assembly Leaves us sadly bereft. When the afternoon shadows begin to fall. And a red glow creeps up in the western sky, We sit in the old assembly hall And watch the students passing by. We look at their fresh young faces. And hark to each merry word, For to us the students' own language Is the sweetest 'er was heard. And so we sit near the doorway, In the closing hours that we love best. And think as we see them passing, That Sheldon will come with the rest. And yet Sheldon comes not. And we think he has missed the way. And strayed from this cold, dark country. To one of perpetual day. We think that the angels have found him, And, loving him better than we, Have begged the Good Father to keep him Right on through eternity. But we long to enfold him, To ruffle our hands through his hair, To feast our starved souls on his smiles, To hear his feet on the stairs. Ah, we are but poor selfish mortals, And our hearts starve, though we know That Sheldon is drinking the nectar, From lilies in heaven that glow. Some day I am sure we shall find him. But the road is so lonesome between, Our spirit grows sick and impatient, For twilight's last closing gleam. Until then we shall sit in the assembly. In the hours that we love best. And think when the students are passing by, That Sheldon, too, will come with the rest. 3
