5 Wax, I ?7wv Baseball, 1953 HE club serles thrs year was won by the Delph1ans coached by Mr Lea and captamed by Olney Mr Beust coached the lsthmlans to second place front of Mr MacConnell s Old Hundreds The season started wlth an 8 7 vrctory by the Delphlans over the Old Hundreds rn a game marked by errors and by an elght run 1nn1ng The wlnners then went on to beat the Old Hundreds tvuce more wh1le w1nn1ng tw1ce from and once tylng w1th the Isthmlans The lsth mlans defeated the Old Hundreds two out of three games lO91I1g' the first one 6 to 4 Practrce at the start of the season was hampered by the bad weather Tlns was attested to by the many errors rn the first few games but the baseball pllyed xmproved steadlly throughout the season to produce a fine school team The games were often marked by Splflt turned to ClCI'19lOH whrch detracted sllghtly from the enjoyment of the sport Outstandlng were Olney and Hardlng for thc Delphs RulonM1ller and Alken for the lsthm1ans and Van Alen Ward and Iackson for the Old Hundreds S P S Baseball HE school team played three outslde games th1s year and won them all The farst game was against Penacook Ilm Blshop pltched a two h1tter and the score was IO to o The neat day the team defeated Governor Dummer 8 g 111 an excltlng game won by Harry Rulon Mlller and the last uctory was agalnst Concord a good llllflllf., team Ed Hardrng SU1'VlVCCl two home runs to wln thls one On Annlversary the Alumm who looked tlred were defeated 7 3 Great credlt I9 due Mr Lea and Mr Beust for produclng one of the best teams IH recent years one wh1ch frelded well and lnt consrstently xn the clutch . . , .
